Cyclamen is simply necessary where people live who attach great importance to the opinions of others, as well as suffer from mood swings. In such rooms, vibrations of fear and self-doubt are hovering, and cyclamen will help you gain confidence and peace.

If a family lives in the house, the flower will protect all household members from the evil eye and unkind thoughts. All family members come under the protection of the goddess Hecate, which guarantees peace and tranquility in the house.

Cyclamen action:

  1. The flower generates around itself a protective field with a radius of about 5 m, within which the forces of evil are powerless. If a person has undergone a negative influence somewhere, then once in the zone of action of the cyclamen, all the negative evaporates, and the evil spell disappears.
  2. A small delicate plant has an amazing ability to absorb negative energy, recycle it, and return positive waves back. Healthy bushes organize an uninterrupted circulation of energy, which gushes over the bush, spreads in the surrounding space, and then descends and flows back to the flower.
  3. Signs say: cyclamen protects only family members who care for it. The plant is indifferent to guests of the house or office visitors.

Growing and caring at home

Cyclamen loves cool fresh air, which is quite difficult to provide in an apartment. It is this condition that is considered the most difficult to achieve, especially in the presence of central heating, which we cannot influence. Otherwise, the plant is very unpretentious. Let's take a closer look at how to care for a cyclamen and what requirements it makes to its owners.

Temperature

The most favorable temperature regime for a winter-flowering plant is 14-16 ° C. It is especially important to observe it during the flowering period. For this, the cyclamen is maximally protected from heating sources with a protective screen, placed on a cool windowsill or taken out onto a glazed loggia.

The maximum temperature is +25 ° С with high humidity, but in this case the flower may not bloom, but shed its leaves and go into hibernation.

In order for the plant to bloom magnificently, it is recommended to harden it, artificially lowering the temperature, spraying and carrying out frequent airing. Cold and dew only strengthen the leaves and the root system.

If you turn the flower upside down and put it on the leaves, then they should not bend. If the petioles do not stand up, then the plant is not strong and hardened enough.

During flowering, the temperature in the room should be kept no higher than +15 ° C and fresh air should be provided by ventilation as often as possible.

Lighting and humidity

The cyclamen flower is very photophilous, but does not tolerate aggressive sunlight directed directly at it. The ideal place for a plant is a cool sill of an east or west facing window. At sunrise and sunset, the rays fall obliquely and do not harm the delicate leaves. And in the midday heat, you can protect the flower with shading.
In winter, when daylight becomes short, the cyclamen can be transferred to the southwest or southeast window.

Alpine violet should be sprayed as often as possible, especially if the air temperature exceeds 17-18 ° C. But at the same time, it is necessary to try so that water droplets do not fall on the delicate petals of flowers. Humidify the air around the pot from a fine spray bottle, or even better, put the pot in a container with wet expanded clay. The water will evaporate and create a cushion of water around the plant, creating the necessary hydration. Just make sure that the bottom of the pot does not come into contact with water, otherwise the tuber will begin to rot.

Watering

Watering plants

How to water the cyclamen so that it has enough moisture, but at the same time does not rot? Regardless of the age of the plant, whether it is very young or already mature, watering is carried out according to the following scheme. In summer, the soil is moistened with settled water at room temperature no more than twice a month, since the tuber is at rest, and in winter, especially during the flowering period, as the top layer of the soil dries up.

Try to keep the water out of the rosette of leaves, it should be directed from the tuber towards the edges of the pot. Remember, cyclamens hate dampness, excessive moisture can provoke root rot.

The flowering plant is moistened by the method of bottom irrigation - water is poured into a pan and after half an hour the residues are drained. If the pot is earthenware, then it can be immersed in water up to the very neck for fifteen to twenty minutes. Through the porous structure of the clay, water will well moisturize the soil throughout the entire volume.

Top dressing

It is necessary to fertilize the cyclamen flower starting with the appearance of the first leaves and ending with the wilting of the leaves, that is, during the period of bud formation and flowering. Any liquid mineral fertilizer intended for flowering home crops is suitable for feeding.

Top dressing is applied twice a month some time after watering. During the dormant period, the tubers do not need feeding.

Soil and transplant

The soil for cyclamens should be well-drained, loose. Alpine violet prefers slightly acidic or neutral soil. For this, sod and deciduous land, peat and coarse sand are taken in equal quantities. But a self-prepared mixture may turn out to be of poor quality, infected with pests, therefore it is recommended to buy a ready-made substrate for tulips or universal soil at a flower shop.

Now let's look at how to transplant a cyclamen. This is done in the fall, after a dormant period, when the first leaves have already appeared. In order not to damage the root system, it is best to use the transhipment method when the roots are not completely free of the old substrate.

Take a new pot. It should be several centimeters larger than the previous one. They are guided by the width of the root system and add two centimeters so that there is room for the development of roots. A larger pot is not suitable - the alpine violet will not bloom until it has mastered the entire underground part of its territory with its roots.

Make sure the pot has a drainage hole, add a layer of coarse pebbles or expanded clay and cover it with fresh substrate. Now carefully remove the cyclamen from the old pot, and carefully examine the roots. If they are healthy, then the earthen lump is carefully lowered into a new container, and the voids are filled with soil.

If you find that the roots are rotten, then they are removed, and the cut is treated with crushed activated carbon or ash. In this case, the earthen lump will almost certainly be cleared of the old earth. The plant is planted completely in a renewed substrate, but it will take much longer to adapt.

A newly purchased plant in the store also requires replanting, in which case more peat must be added to the soil to ensure increased root growth.

Young cyclamens up to five years of age require an annual transplant, and more mature ones - once every two to three years.

All types of cyclamen, except for the European one, are planted in such a way that the tuber rises two-thirds above the surface. European can be covered with earth, but you should not bury it deeply.

Pruning

Dried leaves and faded flowers must be removed. Firstly, it improves the appearance of the plant, and secondly, this procedure increases the flowering period and promotes the formation of new buds, since the cyclamen does not waste energy and nutrition to support fading "body parts".
Just in no case pluck or cut off the leaves and flower stalks. They need to be "twisted". Thus, the tuber itself is not injured. If, nevertheless, a "wound" has formed, then it is sprinkled with wood ash or activated carbon.

Resting care

As you already understood, the cyclamen flower prefers coolness. It blooms in late autumn and under favorable conditions can bloom all winter and part of spring. As soon as the temperature rises to 25 ° C, the plant hibernates. In this case, the leaves dry up and die off.

It is advisable to move the pot with the tuber to a cool, dark place - a basement or cellar, and in an apartment, many gardeners put it under the bath. But watering even at rest is necessary, however, it is very meager, in small portions and no more than one or two times a month.Any feeding at this time is completely excluded.

Feng Shui meaning

Cyclamen can be grown at home. But according to Chinese teaching, cyclamens embody the elements of Water and Earth, where the former prevails, therefore this type of plant cannot be placed next to heating devices in the house.
