How to propagate a money tree in the right way at home - cut a plant, root shoots or leaves, propagate by sowing seeds. The most difficult and time-consuming of all methods will be the process with seeds, which requires certain conditions for its implementation and enhanced care for the sprouts later. Yes, and it is almost impossible to wait for the bloom of the bastard at home, and future seedlings may be completely different from the mother tree.
An excellent crop, succulent, which even at home can grow up to 50 cm in height, requiring transplantation into an extensive pot, is a money tree.
Process and result
Important! The plant grows well in open ground, reaching unprecedented sizes, rising up to 5 m. It got its name due to the shape of the leaf, which is very similar to a coin. It blooms vividly in the wild, indoors - rarely or does not bloom at all due to lack of lighting.
Growing and reproducing a money tree is a fun process and will not cause much trouble, unless, of course, you choose the method of growing by seeds.
Care
Fat women are sun lovers. They need bright lighting all year round. For normal growth and development in summer, an air temperature of + 12- + 18 * C is sufficient. In winter, during the dormant period, the minimum temperature is + 7 * C. Watering is moderate with a dried upper layer (up to 3 cm) of the soil. By autumn, watering is reduced and in winter the plants are not watered. During the growing season, they like spraying with warm, settled water. Top dressing is carried out with special fertilizers for succulent plants.
Fat women easily propagate vegetatively by cuttings, separate leaf blades and seeds. Reproduction of the fat woman by seeds does not convey the properties of the plant, it is rather difficult to work with and is used much less often than vegetative.

Description of the money tree
Crassula and Crassula are other names for the money tree, the natural habitat of which is South Africa.
The money tree will eventually need support
A fairly unpretentious plant has a number of features:
- The fat woman does not like waterlogging of the soil.
- The plant does not tolerate heavy soil and an incorrectly selected pot.
- The money tree needs crown formation - pinching the leaves.
- The plant does not respond well to frequent fertilization.
- The fat woman should not be placed in the shade.
Propagation by cuttings
To propagate a fat woman by cuttings, you must:
- inspect the plant and choose a sufficiently developed shoot of 10 -12 cm in size,
- carefully separate from the mother plant and leave to wither for a day.
Cuttings can be rooted in 2 ways - in water and in soil.
Rooting the cuttings in water:
- on the petiole separated from the parent plant, we cut off the lowest leaves,
- put the prepared stalk aside,
- fill the container half with water, add the root to speed up the formation of roots,
- we strengthen the stalk in the container so that it does not "drown",
- we place the container with the handle so that the leaves do not fall into direct sunlight.
After 2-3 weeks, roots appear on the handle. The plant is ready for permanent planting.
Rooting the cuttings in the soil:
- prepare pots for planting.Wash the old ones with soap and disinfect, soak the new ones in boiling water,
- on the bottom of a 7-8 cm pot, lay drainage from shards and sand, cover 0.5 volume of the pot with soil mixture,
- a soil mixture is prepared from clean garden soil and sand in a 1: 1 ratio,
- make a shallow hole in the pot with a pencil and lower the prepared stalk there,
- add the soil mixture to the pot (you cannot tamp it!), 1-2 cm before the top edge,
- water sparingly, gently along the edge of the pot when the top layer of the potting mix dries out. Excessive moisture causes the death of the cuttings.
The next year, the cutting is transplanted permanently. During rooting, the location of the rooting cutting should not be changed.

The main rule
The fat woman looks pretty attractive. Fleshy leaves of a rich green color, attached to a powerful stem that resembles a tree trunk in appearance, make the plant an adornment of any windowsill. And it seems to grow without problems, does not require special care and attention, and at the same time proudly bears the title of "money tree". Why? Can it actually bring wealth and prosperity to its owner's home? The answer is unequivocal - yes.
Just so that luck does not bypass the house, you need to follow some rules. First and foremost, don't buy an adult plant, get a small sprout and grow it yourself. It is advisable to make a purchase in a store, not in the market "by hand". In stores, plants do not absorb the energy of one person, which means they will not be able to bring it into the house.
Sheet
Propagation of a fat woman by a leaf, like a cuttings, can be carried out in water or soil mixture.
Rooting a leaf in water:
- For rooting in water, carefully separate the lower, well-developed leaf of the bastard and leave it in the shade for a day,
- prepare a flat container or vial and immerse the bottom end of the sheet in water with a root of 0.5 cm,
- transfer to a warm, bright place without direct sunlight,
- with the appearance of roots, carefully transplant into a shallow pot for greater development of the root system, and after a month in a 5-7 cm pot.
Rooting a leaf in soil:
- Place peat with sand or wet moss in a bowl, moisten with a solution of water with root and dig in the lower part of the sheet (about 1/3). Do not allow excess water, the leaf will rot,
- cover the dug sheet with a glass, creating greenhouse conditions,
- ventilate the greenhouse several times a day (a few minutes, slightly opening it),
- spray with finely dispersed warm water when the top layer of artificial soil dries,
- support the sheet.
Rooted cuttings and leaves are transplanted into large containers annually for the first 3-4 years.

How to plant a plant
Before starting a fat woman, everyone is wondering how to plant it correctly. For this purpose, you need a scion. The plant has a good property - fast rooting. Therefore, they are afraid that the twig will not accept, it is not worth it, especially if you hold it for a couple of days in a glass of water before planting.
It is worth planting only one shoot in the container, otherwise you will get thickets that will have thin branches hanging down.
Seeds
Reproduction of a fat woman by seeds is carried out much less often. To obtain an adult plant, the propagation of a jellyfish by seeds takes a longer period and a greater amount of time to care. Seed propagation is used mainly by breeders to obtain varieties and hybrids and is practically not used at home.
For fans, seed reproduction at home is carried out as follows:
- washed and disinfected bowls are filled with a soil mixture of leaf earth and sand, respectively 1.0: 0.5 parts,
- bastard seeds are very small. They are sown over the surface of the soil mixture and sprinkled with sand,
- moisten and cover with glass to create greenhouse conditions with high air humidity,
- the bowls are aired daily.
- the top layer of the soil must remain moist (not wet),
- after 2-3 weeks, seedlings appear,
- for picking seedlings, a soil mixture is prepared from turf, leafy soil and sand (respectively 0.5: 1.0: 0.5),
- seedlings dive into bowls with a moist soil mixture and place them in a well-lit place, but without direct sunlight,
- upon reaching 5-7 cm, the picks are transplanted into 5 cm pots with light soil. During the engraftment period, the air temperature is maintained at 15-18 * C.
Thus, bastards easily and quickly reproduce vegetatively by cuttings and leaves. Rooting of cuttings and leaves can be done in water or potting soil. Seed propagation at home is not practical.
Features of the fat woman
Fat woman, crassula or money tree
The fat woman, or scientifically crassula (Crássula), is commonly called a coin tree, but more often a money tree for the obvious similarity of small, rounded and shiny leaf plates with coins. This succulent plant, which belongs to the vast family Fatty, is extremely widespread in the wild, but is most often found in the Southern Hemisphere. In indoor floriculture, only a few species are used.
A low (up to 0.5 m) evergreen tree with one or more thickened trunks has a dense crown, the branches of which are densely covered with smooth and elastic leaves (4 to 7 cm in diameter) of a rich dark green hue. In a young fat woman, the bark is tender, greenish; with age, its color changes to grayish-brown. The care and maintenance of this culture at home has some features:
- excess moisture for Crassula is destructive. When waterlogged, the root system rots, the foliage becomes brownish-brownish spots and crumbles;
- the plant is light-requiring, it is preferable to keep it on the windowsills of the southern and western directions. However, direct burning sun rays leave disfiguring burns on the fleshy leaves, so in summer the flower needs to be shaded a little;
- the fat woman does not tolerate heavy, very moisture-absorbing and poorly drained soils. It is necessary to select specialized substrates designed for succulents;
- since under natural conditions this culture grows on poor lands, frequent feeding is harmful for it;
- crown formation, which consists in the timely pinching of fresh shoots, is mandatory for the money tree, since this procedure stimulates the active growth of ground green mass.
How to successfully transplant a Fatty Woman
If some of your cuttings die, don't worry. It is normal when some of the cuttings do not survive. Some of them do not grow as strong as their cousins, while others do not have leaves at all. Generally planting a new Crassula is a matter of chance, and it is not always possible to achieve 100% of the result.

Note! When your new plants start to grow, make sure their roots are covered with soil. Otherwise, they will dry out and the flower will stop growing.
It takes a money tree from several months to an entire year to grow to its "normal" size. In other words, it's not a super-fast process, but the main thing is it works!
Features of breeding Crassula at home
Even a novice florist can achieve success in this matter. Crassula is easily rooted both by the stem and by the leaf.... This plant can be propagated at any time of the year, excluding the period when it blooms, since no manipulations are made with flowering plants, except for urgently needed medicinal ones. It is also believed that summer is not the most suitable period for the reproduction of this plant, and the children obtained from crassula in summer take root worse and rarely bloom. How to cut a plant and how to germinate a bastard from a sprout so that the flower will definitely start?
You can start reproduction when this indoor tree becomes quite spreading and the removal of cuttings will not affect its development in any way. The age of the flower by this time should be at least 3 years old, and there should be at least 10 large lignified shoots on it, moreover, each should already have shoots with 3-4 leaves.
The best choice for grafting is a twig that has air roots in each elbow.
Attention should be paid to the quality of the future sprout: there should be no spots or damage on it. A weak sprout will not take root well, grow slowly, and the cut will have to be repeated, which is not very desirable for the mother plant.
The trunk of the future small seedling should be green, not lignified... This condition is important for shortening the timing of the appearance of roots on the handle. The number of leaves is at least 5. In general, a sprout ready for independent life should have a height of approximately 10 cm.
The fat woman tolerates the withdrawal of the shoot quite easily, but it still does not hurt to sprinkle the cut site with turmeric or crushed activated carbon in order to avoid the development of diseases. The donor tree should not stand in bright light in order to avoid burns, and it is all the more undesirable for the rays to fall on the cut site.
