Frontline Combo - a drug for fleas, ticks and lice in dogs

Frontline preparations for fleas and ticks

When choosing a suitable remedy for ticks, you need to focus on the health of the dog, its weight, the presence of allergies to the constituent components and affordability.

Among the Front Line products, you can easily find a product that suits your four-legged friend. The main thing is to take into account the individual characteristics of the pet. Before using antiparasitic drugs, do not be lazy to consult with your veterinarian and carefully study the background information. The effectiveness and safety of products usually depends on strict adherence to instructions.

Frontline is a brand of veterinary drugs for the treatment and prevention of ectoparasites. The manufacturer and developer of these drugs is the French company Merial (Merial). The main principle of the company is the development and implementation of ready-made innovative solutions in the field of veterinary medicine.

Employees of the developer company call their products new generation drugs. Indeed, Front Line quickly found its place in the global market. Frontline contains a unique formula based on fipronil (this is a very effective ingredient that is used not only in veterinary medicine, but also in medicine, as well as in plant growing). Merial manufactures several types of products:

  • Frontline Spray (effective and convenient spray against ectoparasites);
  • Frontline Spot On (classic drops for application to the withers);
  • Frontline Tri-Act (universal drug for cats and dogs against ticks, mosquitoes and fleas);
  • Frontline Combo (non-systemic drug for external use that does not penetrate the bloodstream of the animal);
  • Frontline Nexgard (flea and tick remedy for dogs in the form of chewing gum and with the active ingredient - afoxolaner).

Frontline for cats

Several types of Frontline have been developed to protect and treat cats from ectoparasites.

If you have a cat or a cat, Spot On drops, Combo or Front Line spray are suitable for you. They are all based on fipronil, but there are significant differences in the form of the drug, methods of use and principle of action.

Classic drops Spot On

Frontline Spot On are fipronil-based drops for spot application. The drug is active against the following types of parasites:

  • fleas;
  • lice;
  • lice;
  • ixodid ticks;
  • cheilitella and otodectos.

Spot-On is one of the most convenient drugs for getting rid of ectoparasites

The solution is packaged in small polymer pipettes. Their volumes may be different, but for cats, 0.5 ml packaging is suitable. These pipettes are disposable and must be broken off before use. They are interconnected by 3 pieces in one flat blister. The blister contains information about the preparation:

  • manufacturer's name;
  • trademark;
  • pipette volume;
  • composition of the drug;
  • indications for use;
  • issue batch number;
  • production date and expiration date.

To remove the pipette from the blister, you will have to cut it with scissors or separate it from the cardboard base by hand.

One side of the pipette is transparent, the other is matte, paper (with an inscription)

Store Front Line according to the general rules:

  • in a dark dry place;
  • away from fire and direct sunlight;
  • out of the reach of children and animals;
  • separate from food and animal feed;
  • in the manufacturer's packaging;
  • at storage temperatures from 0 to 25 degrees Celsius;
  • for 3 years.

If the drug was not stored according to the rules, the expiration date has expired, or the drops have changed their color (appearance), then they must be thrown away. Since the components of the drug are toxic, it is important not to allow the animal to come into contact with the product (the cat can climb into the trash can and play with the pipette).

Drops Combo

Combo is a drop from ectoparasites with a double effect

Drops Combo (Frontline Combo) is one of the Frontline options, which contains two active ingredients:

  • fipronil (9.8%);
  • S-methoprene (8.8%).

It is a clear liquid with a specific odor, but no color. They are packaged in the same way as Spot On, option for cats - 0.5 ml. Combo drops are active against adults and larvae:

  • lice and fleas;
  • lice;
  • ticks (ixodid and cheilityllus).

Fipronil destroys ectoparasites, causing them to become paralyzed. And the second, S-methoprene, disrupts the development of eggs and larvae, destroying the chitinous membrane. This leads to the death of immature insects.

The drug is not absorbed into the blood of the animal, but is evenly distributed in the sebaceous glands (during the day). This explains the duration of exposure to ectoparasites in places of their usual accumulation. The drug should be stored in the same way as Spot On drops.

Frontline spray

Front Line spray is more expensive than drops, but cat owners find it the most convenient to use.

The spray from the French manufacturer (Frontline Spray) is a new generation product in a convenient form. The active ingredient of the antiparasitic agent is fipronil (2.5 mg). This spray is available in several sizes, but a 100 ml spray is suitable for protecting and treating cats. One package for a medium-weight cat (5 kg) is enough for 13–20 months. The one hundred milliliter white matt bottle is equipped with a spray. These bottles are sold without a box. On the jar itself there is a blue label with corporate inscriptions:

  • manufacturer;
  • date and series of issue, as well as expiration date;
  • indications for use;
  • storage conditions;
  • the volume and content of the active substance.

Folded instructions for use are attached to the bottle. It can be used many times without tearing it off the wall of the bottle. It is very convenient for storage.

I bought a 100 ml spray. The spray bottle is closed with a protective cap, the instructions in the form of a booklet are glued to the spray can. By the way, this fact is very convenient, since separately lying inserts can be lost, and here it is always with the bottle.

Katushka, forum user

To use the instruction booklet repeatedly, you do not need to completely tear it off the bottle.

Front Line spray is used in the following cases:

  • prevention of infestation by fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and ticks (Rhipicephalus, Ixodes);
  • treatment of allergic dermatitis (dietary supplements) caused by fleas;
  • prevention and treatment of cats from infection with lice.

European scandal

And on the morning of August 4, on my way to work, I found out that, firstly, the largest discounter in Germany, Aldi, announced a temporary withdrawal of any eggs from its range. And secondly, that the government (neighboring the Netherlands) of the federal state of Lower Saxony ordered to check for safety and products containing eggs, from baked goods to pasta.

This is how I personally found myself involved in events that could well become one of the biggest scandals in the history of the German and European food market - after all, it has already affected at least three countries.

Over the past few days, eggs from the Netherlands and Belgium contaminated with fipronil, a poisonous chemical agent for controlling insects, have been found in stores in 12 out of 16 German states. Initially, it was about 3 million eggs, but on Friday the Minister of Agriculture of Lower Saxony Christian Meyer (Christian Meyer) said that according to his department's estimates, more than 10 million have been sold throughout Germany.

Benefits of the drug

Phiprist has several advantages.A highly effective German-made drug does not have a negative effect on the cat's health, since it does not penetrate into the systemic circulation.

Fiprist Spot-On has a pronounced insecticidal and acaricidal effect against all forms of development of lice, fleas, lice and ticks (ixodidae, cheilitella, otodektosis) parasitizing on dogs and cats. This allows for a short period to completely eliminate parasites both on the body of the animal and in its habitat.

The advantages of the product also include the ability to choose the appropriate form and dose, since the drug is available in different forms, with different compositions and dosages. The use of a spray head and a pipette makes the procedure easy and does not allow you to make a mistake with the dose you need for your pet.

Description and composition of the drug

Front Line drops are intended solely for external treatments, they allow you to get rid of existing parasites or provide protection against their possible appearance and transmission of dangerous diseases if the dog often visits potentially dangerous places.

The following features of this tool can be distinguished:

  1. Outwardly, it is a colorless liquid.
  2. The texture is buttery.
  3. There is a specific smell, but it is very weak.
  4. The bottle of substance is immediately and a pipette, from which the top part is broken off before application.
  5. The release is carried out in containers with different volumes from 0.5 to 4 ml.

The composition of the drug includes the following substances that ensure its high degree of effectiveness:

  1. Fipronil is the main active ingredient, it is a modern insecticide that poses a deadly threat to insects and arthropods, therefore it is actively used in the process of combating them. Moreover, unlike substances and compounds of the permethrin group, it is much safer for warm-blooded animals, therefore, its use is considered more preferable. The content of fipronil in drops is 9.8%.
  2. S-metropene is very close in composition to the natural hormones of insects; in essence, it is a growth regulator. Adding it to the composition of the drops allows you to equally effectively resist not only sexually mature individuals, but also larvae, nymphs and eggs. The content of S-metropene in the drops is 8.8%.
  3. Polyvidone is an auxiliary polymeric compound that has good solubility in ordinary water.
  4. Polysorbate is another auxiliary component that is often present in various medicinal and cosmetic products with a greasy structure, which helps to mitigate this effect and improve the absorption process.

Features of the drug

The manufacturer of the product is Pharmacological, France. This manufacturer has long been known to dog owners, because he produces a variety of products for animals that are highly effective.

Store the medicine at 0 to 25 degrees. The storage area must be protected from moisture and sun. Shelf life is 3 years, please check before purchasing if this period has expired. After the expiration date, Frontline Combo for dogs cannot be used, as it can cause a number of side effects, up to and including death.

Labs test egg and chicken products

After large-scale seizures in German supermarkets in recent days, these eggs are unlikely to remain. Deliveries from farms that used a disinfectant mixed with fipronil are suspended, control is tightened

Apparently, therefore, supermarkets Edeka, Rewe and Lidl on August 4 did not follow the example of their competitor Aldi and did not resort to such a radical precaution as a complete refusal to sell eggs.

At the same time, experts warn: the peak of the scandal is most likely still ahead. “It can be assumed that the business will not be limited to eggs,” warned Professor Peter Fürst on August 4. He heads a laboratory tasked with testing eggs produced in North Rhine-Westphalia for fipronil. The scientist believes that traces of this poisonous substance can be found, for example, in products containing eggs such as mayonnaise or egg liqueur.

The scale of the scandal will undoubtedly increase sharply if it turns out that chicken meat was also infected. In Belgium, according to the BfR, chicken with traces of fipronil has already been found. In Germany, by the evening of August 4, laboratory tests were still in full swing.

Popular flea sprays for topical treatment of cats

The composition of sprays from different manufacturers may vary. The age of the animal can also influence the choice of the remedy.

It is important to remember that such drugs for fleas are strictly not recommended for the treatment of pregnant and lactating cats.

Frontline

Produced in a plastic bottle complete with a special attachment. The main active ingredient is fipronil. The action is aimed at paralyzing the nerve endings in parasites, because of which they die. The drug in small doses is absolutely safe directly for the cat, even if ingested, it is not absorbed into the bloodstream, so poisoning is excluded. Fipronil has a similar effect.

The composition contains alcohol, to which cats can react with strong drooling. This reaction is normal and does not require any treatment.

Front Line is cost effective. One 100 ml cylinder is enough to protect a pet weighing 5 kg for a whole year. The cost is about 880 rubles.

One 100 ml Front Line can is enough for a year

It is not recommended to wash the animal two days before and for two days after treatment. Additionally, you need to restrict the cat's access to the body by wearing a special collar that will prevent the animal from licking the product from the fur. This measure is needed within 30 minutes after processing.

Good day! As I already wrote, from time to time we help the shelter and take kittens and cats for overexposure. Animals from the street or from unfavorable conditions, respectively, the first thing we do as soon as they get to our home is to treat them from fleas. If earlier it was necessary to use shampoos for this, now everything has become much easier and more effective. Use Frontline flea and tick spray. The method of application is very simple - the wool on the withers is parted to the sides so that the skin is visible, then 2-3 zips and rub it into the skin of the animal with your fingers. It is the withers that are chosen, since this is the place that the animal cannot lick. After a day, all the fleas die, a one-time treatment is enough. After processing, we always try to isolate the animal from others for a day. In general, the instructions say that the animal needs to be processed completely, but no one does this, including veterinarians. This little treatment is really enough for a 100% effect. So the expense is very small. It even suffices in the shelter of one bottle for a month.

Phiprist

The active ingredient is fipronil at a concentration of 0.25%. The product is available in bottles of 100, 250 and 500 ml. The kit includes a spray nozzle. Fiprist is active in all phases of the parasite's development.

Has a paralytic effect, as a result of which the parasites and perish. Not absorbed into the systemic circulation. It accumulates in the wool, which means it is able to have a preventive effect. The duration of the effect is up to 40 days.

For one treatment, 3–6 ml is sufficient per 1 kg of animal body weight. This amount equals 6–12 clicks of the spray head of a 100 ml bottle.

Application process:

  1. Shake the bottle well before use.
  2. Hold it upright when spraying.
  3. The treatment must be carried out all over the body, directing the sprayer against the fur, while the bottle must be placed at a distance of 10–20 cm from the surface to be treated.

    Spray Fiprist against the fur of the animal

  4. Until the product on the wool has completely dried, it is strictly forbidden to allow the animal to come near sources of open fire and heating devices.

It is not recommended to wash the animal for two days before and after treatment.

One of the advantages of Fiprist is the absence of side effects, although we must not forget about the individual intolerance of the components. Contraindications are infectious diseases and age less than 7 days.

It can be used to treat cats and dogs, while the agent actively copes with other parasites, for example, ticks.

The cost of a 100 ml bottle is about 800 rubles.

We noticed with my sister at the little flea beetles. Mom did not have any funds, because her domestic cats wear collars. We fed the kitten, caught fleas with my sister, those that moved calmly. I threw the little one into the carrier and took her home with her son. She isolated her tails at home, because I was afraid that this evil spirits would crawl on them. I had a flea control shampoo. When my husband and I lathered the little one, they simply did not believe their eyes, there was a breeding ground, we had never seen so many fleas on one small body, or even on an adult animal. It was just that the hair stood on end, it was all eaten away, the water was mixed with dirt and blood, bites were visible on the body. Unfortunately, I did not take a photo, because it was not before. In general, after 40 minutes. fishing desperate and the husband ran to the pet store for some means to suit the kittens. And then we approached the hero of the review)) In the pet store, he was advised by Fiprist spray. Price: 777 rubles with kopecks. The instructions indicate that you cannot wash 2 days before applying the spray, but that's how we did it. In the store, the consultant said the drug would work and that was okay. For the rest, the drug was applied according to the instructions. The smell of the product is sharp. Oh, how did this evil spirits climb out ... from the calf to the muzzle, what they could, they caught it. My husband bought collars for his own tails. After a while, the flea race stopped. Kisa did not lick the product, because she did not have the strength and then she slept in her husband's pocket, and dried up there to the end. At night she went to bed, of course, between us in bed. In the morning I found dead fleas, then for some time they just fell from it (dead). All beds, jackets, carriers, etc. I, of course, processed it with this tool and wiped it off. After processing, the next day, the kitty came to life, ate and even played a little. I didn't think the product would work so well and that it would cope with so many fleas.

Munirka

Adams

The product can be used to treat animals from three months of age. The active ingredient is pyrethrin. He is able to paralyze the nervous system of fleas, which leads to their death. To completely get rid of parasites, a single application is enough.

Spray Adams can be used on kittens from three months of age

The line is represented by products for animals with short and long hair, as well as with a reduced concentration of the active substance, which makes it possible to use the drug for the treatment of pregnant, weakened and old animals.

The agent is not absorbed into the systemic circulation, therefore, when ingested, it does not cause poisoning. Nevertheless, it is worth preventing this by using a special cap within 30 minutes after processing.

The cost of the funds is about 1200 rubles.

Leopard

The active ingredient is fipronil (0.3%). The agent acts on the nervous system of parasites, paralyzing them. Due to its ability to accumulate in hair follicles, sebaceous glands and on the upper layer of the epidermis, Bars creates a protective layer that lasts for 4 weeks.

The drug should not be used on cats under 10 weeks of age. In addition, contraindications are pregnancy, lactation, any other diseases and general weakness.

The tool actively fights against other parasites: ticks, lice and lice.

Leopard is able to get rid not only of fleas, but also of other parasites

The dosage of the drug depends on the body weight of the animal and the density of its coat. On average, the indicator is as follows - 0.5-1 ml per 1 kg of body weight. This amount corresponds to 2-4 clicks on the head of a 100 ml balloon. The treatment is performed on dry animal hair, and it is not recommended to bathe it two days before the procedure. It is necessary to process the skin, for which the wool is gradually pushed apart. After processing, the agent must be allowed time to dry, then the animal must be combed. Over the next two days, you need to monitor so that the animal does not get wet.

There are no side effects provided that the recommended dosages are observed. Individual intolerance is possible, which can manifest itself as vomiting, increased salivation and lacrimation.

The cost of Bars is democratic, only about 200 rubles per 100 ml bottle.

Spray Bars was bought for our cat about a year ago, flea collars disappeared at an incredible speed (for some reason we like to take them off from cats walking on the street for their pets, although the thing is not so expensive). I liked the spray very much and justified its price, copes with bloodsuckers very quickly. It was necessary, however, to process both the litter and the whole house. I sprayed everything and left for 5 hours, so as not to poison myself and not to poison the children. Upon arrival, we aired for about 20 minutes without going into the room. After the first treatment, all the fleas disappeared, before that they had been walking on our floor for 10 days. I recommend it to all cat owners, it quickly and effectively removes harmful parasites.

oksana0407

Hartz

The product has age restrictions - it cannot be used on animals under 12 weeks of age.

Made on the basis of tetrachlorvinphos (concentration 1.08%). Apply the product from a distance of 15 cm from the coat, making sure that the coat is completely saturated with liquid right down to the skin.

Hartz is active against parasites at all stages of development. Forms a protective layer preventing re-infection.

After using Hartz spray, a protective layer forms on the cat's body

How to apply:

  1. Shake the bottle before use.
  2. During processing, it must be kept strictly vertical at a distance of 10–20 cm from the skin of the animal.
  3. After processing, the animal's hair must be dried with a towel, and then carefully combed with a special brush.
  4. Within two days after treatment, it is not recommended to stroke the cat, as well as to let children near it.
  5. If necessary, the procedure can be repeated, but not earlier than after 7 days.

The product is moisture resistant, therefore, slight wetting of the animal does not reduce the therapeutic effect.

There are no side effects, but with individual intolerance or overdose, skin irritation, increased lacrimation and salivation, tremors, and vomiting are possible. In such cases, the use of the product should be discontinued and immediately contact the veterinarian.

The cost is about 500 rubles.

Instructions for use of the drug

The drug is applied to the area of the withers between the shoulder blades, this is an inaccessible place for the dog. To do this, you need to move the coat away, thereby providing access to the dog's skin. And apply the solution pointwise using the entire composition of the medicine. The medicine is applied to dry and healthy (intact) skin. The drug has the property of gradually spreading independently, therefore, within a day, the entire skin of the dog will be covered with the drug. Due to the gradual distribution, the drug accumulates in the hair follicles of the wool and sebaceous glands.

Important notes

It is forbidden to treat people suffering from allergic and respiratory diseases. During the procedure with the medicine, it is forbidden to smoke or take anything from food at the same time, work only with gloves. After finishing work, hands must be washed with detergent.

It is important to consider that do not touch the animal's hair during the day after applying the medicine... Be careful if there are small children, do not allow contact. In case of contact with exposed skin or eyes, rinse immediately with water. It is forbidden to reuse the pipettes, especially for food and household purposes, after use, dispose of immediately.

Frequently asked Questions

Can it be used by animals during pregnancy or lactation?

According to the results of numerous tests of the international level, experts did not reveal any negative actions on this category of pets. Frontline is the only insect-acaricidal drug approved for use during these periods. In order to treat kittens under 2 months old, the company releases it in the form of a spray.

Is it dangerous if a pet licks its fur after being treated with Front Line?

Not. The drug is not dangerous for life and will not harm the body, however, if it gets inside the body, it can cause excessive saliva separation, therefore, in order to avoid such a situation, the agent should be applied to those places where the cat cannot lick it off.

How quickly does the effect of the medicine appear after application to the skin?

Between 98 and 100% of fleas and parasites will die before 24 hours have passed - before the individual lays the larva

However, it should be remembered that there is a possibility that the larvae have already been deposited and therefore, a recurrence of the infection is possible, therefore it is important to start using the medicine immediately after the first signs appear.

How often is Front Line recommended?

Experts advise to use the drug for treating cats every 2 months, during the period of danger of infection. If there is a danger of ticks, then the procedure must be repeated every month no more than 1 time.

Does the front line repel or prevent tick bites?

Not. The medicine does not affect the bite. It prevents the transmission of diseases from the tick to the pet. The fact is that the tick needs from 48 hours to 72 in order to carry out the infection of the animal - this is the time for the transmission of the infection.During this time, Front Line neutralizes the effect of the tick on the body.

Substances used in drops and principle of action

Technologies are constantly being improved. This also applies to the chemical industry. Despite the fact that such compounds are used as active ingredients:

  • permethrin;
  • fipronil;
  • methoprene;
  • ivermectin;
  • imidacloprid;
  • pyriproxyfen,

their list is constantly updated with new, more efficient and faster ones. Although the principles of how flea drops for cats work are based on the same principles.

Active components (insecticides), getting into the body, are evenly distributed over the subcutaneous fatty tissue and act only against fleas and, depending on the selected drops, on other parasites.

If you applied the product incorrectly and noticed that the cat is licking droplets, you need to stop it, despite the fact that the substances are broken down and quickly excreted through the gastrointestinal tract.

The dosage must be observed exactly: most drops on the withers are toxic. In the presence of individual intolerance, this can be fatal. If the cat itches after flea drops, rinse the product from the place of application, give sorbents.

Effective drops, as a rule, have a nerve effect on the parasites themselves, prevent the further development of their larvae and eggs, help to disinfect permanent habitats, and also have repellent properties.

Application rules

Funds based on Fipronil are used for disinsection of industrial, children's, medical, food and residential premises. Before using this or that product, you must read the manual (instructions for use are attached to each package)

When using Fipronil, precautions should be taken, since even short-term contact can cause irritation.

To clean an apartment or house from cockroaches, it is preferable to use insecticidal gels based on Fipronil. They are more effective and much safer than aerosols. When using the gel, it is not necessary to evacuate people and animals living in the house. In addition, drugs of this type do not have a specific odor. Having squeezed out small (up to 5 mm) drops of the product, they are applied where cockroaches are most often found. The gap between drops should not exceed 2 cm.

It's no secret that ticks sometimes cause an animal to develop more serious diseases, even fatal ones. In addition, according to official information, the medication is resistant to moisture, even if you thoroughly bathe your pet with shampoo.

This agent for the destruction of parasites has an insectoacaricidal effect. Its principle of action lies in the properties of fipronil. The main element of the drug helps to block the excitatory receptors of insects, to disrupt the transmission of nerve impulses. And this is the cause of paralysis and the elimination of insects.

When Front Line Combo is applied to the body of a pet, it does not suck into the bloodstream, but is evenly distributed throughout the day over the entire surface of the body. Particles of the drug are reserved in the sebaceous glands. As a result, Front Line Combo has a long-term effect in the areas where the parasites are concentrated.

It should also be noted that in terms of the degree of effect on the pet's body, this medication belongs to low-hazard drugs. According to domestic standards, it complies with GOST 12.1.007.76, which allows it to be used even on animals with weak organisms. Fipronil properties

A chemical substance with such a name can actually be acquired only in the form of drugs, since it is not sold in its natural form. This insecticide has a broad spectrum of action and belongs to the phenylpyrazole family.

Fipronil is a strong poison for cockroaches, which has a slow effect on their body and is used as an additive in baits. It was developed by the French concern Rhône-Poulenc between 1985 and 1987. In 1993, the drug was patented in the United States. Since 1987, fipronil has been used extensively against over 250 insects in many countries around the world.

It is not even necessary for cockroaches to consume fipronil internally - it begins its destructive effect after a while, even if the parasite simply passes through the gel with a mustache. The principle of action of the substance consists in the toxic effect on the cells of the central nervous system of insects, as a result of which the blocking of GABA-linked glutamate and chloride channels occurs.

Infected individuals return to the nest and pass some of the poison to their fellows. As it is written in the instructions, the inevitable death of parasites occurs in 24 - 72 hours. Since dead cockroaches are still eaten alive, further transfer of poison from individual to individual continues. A persistent effect after the use of drugs based on fipronil persists for another 1 month.

As the manufacturer notes in the instructions, if the drug gets on the human skin, slight irritation may appear. If accidentally swallowed, seek immediate medical attention - usually nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, weakness and even cramps are observed. Since these types of drugs are very toxic, they should not be used in rooms where there are children and pregnant women.

Veterinarian opinion

People who value the health of their pets bring their pets to the veterinary clinic. For the treatment of cats and dogs from ectoparasites, the modern drug Fiprist is most often used, which has been tested and has many positive reviews from pet owners. The drug is available in different forms, the more effective is Fiprist Combo with an improved composition. Fiprist spray is also effective, which allows you to treat not only the pet, but also his things and the house where he lives. This treatment prevents reinfection.

The action of the drug lasts about 1.5 months. Re-treatment, as a rule, is not required, since after the first application of the agent, parasitic insects die. The drug is safe for mammals, has no side effects, provided that the instructions in the instructions are strictly followed.

All types of the drug Fiprist are effective and harmless. The product is used by both cat owners and experienced veterinarians.

Funds overview

To make it easier to navigate the extensive range of sprays to keep your dog safe from ticks, below is a brief overview of the most popular and proven options:

Fipronil remedy for cockroaches

  1. Front Line
    is a famous French remedy that comes in various forms, including in the form of a spray. One of the main advantages is its versatility, since Front Line is suitable for both dogs and cats, and with its help you can remove not only ticks, but also. The main active ingredient is fipronil, therefore, it is necessary to use the spray only strictly in accordance with the instructions. The approximate cost of a 100 ml can is 1000 rubles.
  2. Bolfo
    is the German analogue of the considered "Front Line", but the main active ingredient is not fipronil, but propoxur. It is considered a safer option, since it does not cause serious irritation even if accidentally spilled on the mucous membranes. It is sold in cans with a volume of 250 ml, the approximate cost of which is 500 rubles.
  3. Beaphar
    is a spray that is intended directly for dogs. A distinctive feature and main advantage is a natural and safe composition, which is based on essential oils and various substances of plant origin. The Beaphar is not capable of killing ticks, but it provides reliable and high-quality protection against them while walking. The price of one can is about 700-750 rubles.
  4. Hartz
    also produces sprays against ticks, the main active ingredient is tetrachlorvinphos. It is forbidden to use this product simultaneously with others without prior consultation with a specialist. Several recommendations

Below are a few recommendations regarding the use of the drug, based on the most frequently asked questions from pet owners:

  1. If the cat begins to lick itself after you gave her drops, then you need to be more careful. Ingestion of the drug into the body can cause excess saliva secretion. For the animal's body, the medication is completely safe and does not cause poisoning, since it acts exclusively on the nervous system of parasites.To avoid excessive salivation, you need to use drops in those places that the pet cannot lick, that is, between the shoulder blades.
  2. Reprocessing of the animal should be done once a month. If there is a high risk of parasite infestation, then the processing time should be reduced to two weeks.
  3. Frontline Combo Drops, contrary to consumer expectations, does not prevent tick bites. The principle of action is to prevent the possibility of transmission of dangerous diseases. To infect a pet, the parasite will take at least two days. During this time, the drug reduces the risk of transmission of infections. It destroys up to 98% of insects, but during its action, parasites can bite a pet.
  4. If the animal is very dirty, then it can be washed, but this should be done no earlier than two days after applying the drops.
  5. Many pet owners are interested in the question - is it possible and necessary to use other drugs together with Frontline Combo? No, this is not worth doing, since the medication will be able to cope with parasites on its own, therefore, it makes no sense to use it with other medications.
  6. Some buyers fear that, as a result of the drug's long presence on the market, parasites may have adapted to the drug. This is not true. Drops act simultaneously on several receptors of the nervous system of invertebrates, and this significantly reduces the likelihood of adaptation of arthropods to the drug. This information has been confirmed by numerous scientific studies, so there is nothing to fear.

The effectiveness of the drug, benefit and harm

If we take into account the cascade effect, the percentage of death of cockroaches and other insects can be up to 95% already in the first 3 days. The drug has pronounced toxic qualities, because its smell and taste are not unpleasant for pests. Therefore, they gladly swallow the poison.

Cockroach corpses and feces remain filled with enough poisonous substance to destroy healthy individuals of parasites. The benefits of this component of Velik's preparations in other areas are also used as the main component of anti-flea products for pets and the fight against pests that harm the agricultural sector.

Fipronil remedy for cockroaches

The harm of the agent consists in its high degree of toxicity for fish and invertebrates living in the water. Its ability to combine with precipitation and its low solubility in water can reduce the danger. This is important for the owners of aquarium fish who plan to use the preparations in the form of a spray.

The described component is also destructive for bees. If there are parrots or other birds in the apartment or house, remember that if they swallow drugs with such a component, undesirable consequences for their health are possible. It is recommended to restrict the movement of birds in the room for at least a month, which must pass from the moment of treatment.

Are Phiprist drugs safe?

All forms of the drug Fiprist are completely safe for pets, since they are not absorbed into the systemic circulation. This is the reason for the fact that the agent is used for the treatment and prevention of pregnant females. The medication does not harm the health of the mother and fetus, protects the cat from harmful parasites that can cause the development of serious infectious diseases that are life-threatening.

The preparation contains rather strong components, and therefore it is recommended to do the treatment indoors with open windows in rubber gloves. After manipulation, hands should be washed with warm water and soap, and the pipette or bottle should be disposed of. Subject to these simple rules, the drug does not harm the health of the pet and its owner.
