Black rose hybrid tea 'Black Baccara'
The following varieties can compete with the black rose Baccara (Black Baccara) in the depth of the shade: Black Magic, Barkarole, Black Beauty.
Do black roses exist in nature? For a rose, the maroon color of the petals is considered black. There are now many flower companies throughout the country that sell black roses, but most often they are colored flowers. Some florists dry roses and paint them black. In special greenhouses, natural maroon roses (almost black) are bred.
Black color bears an official character, serious solemnity, therefore, it may come in handy to express your admiration and gratitude to business partners through the business with burgundy-black roses.
- 'Black Baccara' (Black Baccarat), Meilland, 2004 - color, just fabulous velvet! French breeders have bred an almost "black" rose, amazing in shape and color, as close to black as possible. The buds have a distinct black color. With the onset of autumn coolness, the flowers acquire a bright black tint. In summer, the variety will delight you with maroon velvety flowers. It should be noted that on acidic soils and in hot weather, this variety is black. The flower itself does not belong to very large, reaches an average of 9-10 cm in diameter, cupped, dense, densely double, the petals at the tips are pointed, angular. The scent, like other cut roses, is barely perceptible. The foliage is green with a slightly noticeable red tint. This variety has a very small number of thorns. The height of the bush is about 80 cm. The resistance to diseases is average. Used mainly for cutting, feels great in the garden. The best landing site is partial shade. It is here that the velvety black shades of this rose will manifest themselves as much as possible.

‘Black Magic’ (‘Black Magic’), Tantau Germany, 1997, Hybrid Tea - Bred as a cut rose, but also popular as a garden rose in hot, dry climates including Australia, California, South Africa. The buds are so dark that they appear almost black. Even when they begin to bloom, the flowers are black and red, and only the most central petals can be called red, or rather very dark crimson, black is clearly visible at the edges of the petals. Flowers of medium size, with beautifully bent down petals, appear one at a time or sometimes in clusters of up to 4 pieces. The bush is vigorous, elongated, erect, with dark green foliage and bronze young growth, resistant to diseases. Widespread in the Netherlands for the domestic cut market: flowers stand in a vase for up to 14 days.

'Barkarole' (Barcarole), Tantau, 1988, Hybrid Tea - this magnificent rose is popular all over the world, especially in Germany, where it is widely used in planting in large arrays. The bush is of medium height, graceful, in cool conditions it reaches 70 cm, in hot climates it is much higher. Dark red velvety flowers have a not strong, but pleasant aroma. The 'Barkarole' rose of black and red buds has large (10-12 cm), densely double, goblet-shaped flowers with a high center. The flowers are arranged on long, straight stalks, making them ideal for cutting. Abundant flowering throughout the season. Long standing in the cut. Young foliage is red, then dark green. Sometimes it is affected by powdery mildew. Color tends to show better in colder weather.
‘Black Tea’ (‘Black Tea’) was born in 1973 from the hands of K. Okamoto. This is one of the most unusual, so-called 'Coffee Roses' - large, beautifully formed, scarlet flowers with a brownish-gray tint. During flowering, the hue may vary. Sometimes it is coral gray, sometimes dark, reminiscent of the color of fresh cinnamon. This rose bears some resemblance to the ‘Smoky’ (Smokychaty, 1969), but with a more attractive flowering form. It is possible that not everyone will like a tea rose like this, but brown collectors are looking for roses with these qualities. It is worth taking a closer look at this slightly strange beauty. It seems that real magic comes from the tea rose flower.

Testimonials
Gardeners often leave positive reviews about this variety than negative ones. However, like any other plant, the Black Baccarat rose also has its pros and cons.
On the positive side: almost everyone notes that the color of the buds is as close to black as possible, and its shape is indeed perfect. They also talk about the lush and spectacular flowering of the plant. Of the minuses, poor winter hardiness and the appearance of defective buds in young seedlings are noted.
We learned what the Black Baccarat rose is, figured out where and how to plant it, how to care. This wonderful rose can become a real decoration of the garden and bouquet, and our tips will help you grow a lush and healthy shrub.
Turkish rose
Of course, a Turkish rose is unlikely to feel comfortable in our midland conditions. And its cultivation will be associated with many problems.
However, I hasten to please you, this article will teach you how a simple scientific experiment, which is studied even at school in botany lessons, will help you decorate your garden with amazing black roses, grow black and white roses and more.
Black roses photo
Of course, not all roses shown in the photo exist in nature in their natural form. Most of them are made artificially. Yes, I did not make a reservation, namely, they were made, and not bred in the form of some sort, in contrast to natural black flowers. After all, neither blue, nor purple, nor green roses, nor black and white roses are found in nature.
However, it is quite possible to create such a masterpiece from almost any kind of roses. So, let's begin!
Growing black roses
To grow black roses, we need any variety of dark red roses. And the darker the variety, the more successful our experiment will be, with light varieties the effect will be much smaller.
The rose bush should grow in partial shade. This condition is also necessary because in direct sunlight, dark flowers will get overheated.
The planting and growing process should begin in early spring when the plant wakes up and can be watered. Watering is the secret to growing black roses.
The fact is that we will use colored water for irrigation. To do this, dilute a teaspoon of black food coloring in 5 glasses of water and pour this solution on the rose bush under the root, once every two weeks.
- Important: Don't try to make root dye with any kind of paint or fabric paint. This will kill the roses.
If the bush is large, then focus on its needs, increase the amount of solution, for example, 2 tsp. for 10 glasses of water. Visible results will begin to appear in a month and will be noticeable in the buds of future buds. The smaller the bush, the less dye you will need, and the result will be visible faster.
- Wait for the flower to fully open before deciding if you should increase the amount of root dye. After a couple of months, you will have the kind of dark roses that suit your taste.
However, you can conduct a similar experiment with light roses and surprise all your neighbors in the country, as well as household members. Try to experiment with a room rose - hibiscus at a time when you will plant it in the garden for the summer.
- You should also not forget about the prevention of diseases and pests, as in the usual rose garden.
Blue, green and purple roses
Such colors can be obtained in the same way as black roses, if we take light varieties as a basis, and dyes, respectively, of the desired color.
However, there is another option, much simpler than the one described above - you can paint ready-made cut flowers in absolutely any color. This is made even easier.
Painting roses
Blue Rose has a unique color that evokes deep intrigue. It symbolizes what cannot be achieved. In a romantic sense, the blue rose symbolizes hope and fulfillment of wishes in love.
Blue rose is an anomaly that does not exist in nature. We will create it using the simple process described below.
Choose a bouquet of freshly cut cream or white roses. Ideally, they should not be in the water before. Dry, freshly cut roses will absorb the flower dye as much as possible. In this case, the blue plant dye enters the buds through the channels in the stem and, filling with moisture, stains the petals.
Remove the thorns and clean the lower part of the stem, in this case, in this case, not only will the flow of the dye improve, but the bouquet itself will last longer.
Place the prepared roses in an empty vase and dilute the food coloring according to the directions on the label. If desired, the solution can be made more saturated to enhance the color in the final result.
Reproduction
For propagation of a rose, two methods are acceptable: dividing the bush and grafting. But since the bush grows rather slowly, reproduction by dividing the rhizome is not desirable. In exceptional cases, a bush older than 5 years can be divided into two parts, but you need to be prepared for the plant to slow down its growth and stop flowering.
Cutting is the easiest and most affordable way to propagate a black rose. To teach cuttings, shoots 12-15 cm long are cut. The blanks should be taken from healthy young shoots formed during the summer. The cut is made obliquely below the kidney, and at the top above the kidney. Cuttings are planted in moist soil in boxes, or on a flower bed under a shelter (jar, plastic bottle). Rooted cuttings are transplanted next spring, after preliminary hardening.
The black rose is highly prized and very popular with flower growers. It is shade-tolerant, so it can be placed anywhere in the garden. Landscapers often use the flower for planting in flower beds in combination with contrasting roses. In addition, the black rose thrives in pots and containers, which allows it to be grown indoors.
Do black roses exist
There is no such kind in nature. Naturally growing roses can acquire all shades except black and blue - these pigment genes are absent in flowers. Are there black roses created by people? Since the 1870s, breeders have been working to develop a plant with a completely black bud. There is no 100% completed result. Thanks to the efforts of specialists, roses of maroon, dark crimson, dark purple hues appeared. The work continues, and maybe in the future humanity will be lucky enough to see a real black beauty - the queen of flowers.
The dark flower is given on special occasions. The bouquet will appeal to people with a strong spirit and those who admire everything exotic.A young girl, elderly men and women should not present a monochrome composition - the act can be interpreted in two ways, because the black color evokes thoughts of mourning. It is advisable to dilute the gloomy ensemble with brighter and lighter roses, then the bouquet will turn out gorgeous.
Black rose varieties
On sale you can find inexpensive absolutely black flowers. These roses are obtained by dyeing - the white bud is dipped in a black chemical. It looks good, but if you look closely, you realize that there is not much life left in this flower. Much more interesting are the original varieties, close to black. Velvety petals, subtle ebb, aromatic notes leave the most pleasant impressions and inspire. Gardeners are very fond of the dark palette of roses - for their hard work, plants reward their owners with luxurious color for a long time.

The greatest stress for Black Baccarat is watering with cold tap water. For humidification, it is worth using a settled warm liquid. The bush grows slowly, so it is not advisable to divide it into two parts. The optimal breeding method is cuttings.
Black magic
The bouquet of black roses Black Magic is incredibly gorgeous. The variety deservedly bears the royal title - it is one of the most beautiful flowers in the family. The plant was born in 1997 in Germany, and was created by the breeding company Tantau. Black Magic has the highest sales in the world, even in the home market of Holland, the land of tulips. The rose got its magic name due to the color of the petals. At the beginning of flowering, they delight the eye with a rich maroon velvet shade, and closer to autumn, dark tides appear. The best place to plant is lighted flower beds and areas of the garden. The variety fits perfectly into landscape design as a single element or as part of a group composition.

The shade ranges from coral gray to dark brown. Black Tee is also called the coffee rose. Black Tea is similar to Smoky (1969) but has more attractive flowers.
The plant is not as popular as Black Magic or Baccarat, but it attracts the eye with its special beauty. In our area, the variety is rare, so only avid collectors are engaged in its cultivation. Where to buy black roses Black Tee, know those who have devoted a lot of time to the cultivation of royal flowers. Black Tea is almost never found on the free market.
Barkarole
Hybrid tea rose Barcarole (Barcarole) bred by German breeders Tantau in 1988. The shrub can be used for decorative purposes in the garden or used for industrial purposes for cutting. Botanical characteristics of Barkarole:
- Powerful non-spreading bushes grow up to 1.5 m in height if they live in southern regions or greenhouses. In cold climates, the rose is low - 0.6-0.8 m.

- The size of a blossoming flower is 9-12 cm, 7-9 double inflorescences form a brush.
- Floral aroma is unique, pleasant, unobtrusive.
- With bright colors, the rose pleases all summer and autumn, there are many buds, so the variety has gained wide popularity.
- Medium disease resistance. Afraid of powdery mildew.
Experienced growers note that the bush grows unevenly and lopsidedly. This fact does not allow the plant to be used in ideal landscape compositions, but under normal conditions the phenomenon is not so important. The variety is good for border planting, looks good in containers. Flowers retain their appearance for a long time after cutting. For the winter, the plant must be covered, otherwise it will die.
Black Prince
Black Prince was bred by British breeders in the second half of the 19th century. An unusual plant holds the bar in popularity on a par with modern varieties. Dark red and dark purple buds leave few people indifferent. A noticeable gradient overflow characteristic of each inflorescence petal, due to which the overall composition creates the effect of "velvety shimmer". Botanical characteristics of ornamental culture:
- Bush height: 1.2-1.5 m; width: up to 0.9 m.
- The plant has many dark green, reddish leaves, but they are unremarkable. The shoots are developed, have a small number of large thorns.

- Inflorescences are distinguished by strong doubleness, consist of 40-45 pointed petals. The central part is densely filled.
- The aroma is relatively strong, with tangible wine notes.
Disembarkation procedure and preparation for it
High-quality planting material is the key to abundant flowering. Seedlings are chosen at the age of 1-2 years with 2-3 lignified stems of even color, developed flexible roots. Kidneys - "dormant" or only hatched. The inoculation site is flat, without peeling bark and "sagging".
Choose rose seedlings very carefully, do not be afraid to seem too picky and meticulous
Disembarkation requirements:
- availability of protection from drafts (natural or artificial barrier 2-3 m from the bush from the north);
- distance of at least 1–1.5 m from trees and bushes growing nearby;
- good lighting (in the shade, the rose blooms reluctantly, more often it gets sick);
- loose, fertile substrate, pH - slightly acidic.
Only in an open sunny place can a Black Magic rose be able to manifest itself in the best possible way.
The Black Magic rose is planted in the spring, when the temperature at night reaches at least 6–8 ° C. In central Russia, this is the end of April or the first half of May. Autumn planting (before early October) is allowed only in the southern regions.
A pit with a depth of 30 cm and a diameter of 50 cm is prepared in the fall, and it is filled by a third with horse soil mixed with 0.5 liters of wood ash and 25–30 g of complex dressing for roses. Add another 4–5 liters of humus to the poor soil. An alternative is a store-bought substrate for roses.
There is nothing supernaturally difficult in planting a rose, even a novice gardener can do it.
The planting procedure itself is simple, especially for seedlings with a closed root system. They are simply placed in a recess at the top of an earthen mound at the bottom of the planting pit, covered with soil, leaving the root collar on the surface, tamped, watered (5–8 l) and mulched the soil. The rose is not watered for the next 10 days. In seedlings with an open root system, the roots are put on the "slopes" of the mound, not allowing them to bend upwards.
A newly planted rose should be watered abundantly and then left alone.
Transplanting roses is generally undesirable, the plant takes a long time to recover from "stress". It is carried out according to the same algorithm in the spring. The bush must be removed from the ground, keeping a clod of earth on the roots as much as possible.

Growing recommendations
Once planted, the Black Baccara rose needs care. If a decision is made to decorate the garden with this plant, one should not forget in time:
- To water... Flowers are best watered in the evening. Before watering, the water must be settled, preferably in the sun. It is important that no water gets on the stem of the rose - this can lead to rust. After watering, you need to carefully loosen the soil.
- Feed... The first feeding is organized in early spring. It must be carried out immediately after the winter shelter has been removed. For more active growth of roses, nitrogen fertilizers are perfect. During the active growth of the plant, a second feeding should be done. For her, special nutritional complexes are often used. During the period when the bush begins to become covered with buds, it is necessary to feed it with a solution of chicken droppings or manure. To prepare for the winter period, potash fertilizers are used.
- Weed.
- Fight pests and diseases... The black rose is susceptible to diseases of the fungal type: black spot, powdery mildew, rust. With high humidity, there is a high probability that the rose will get sick.To prevent trouble, you should treat the plant with a solution of copper sulfate - in the spring. In addition to fungal diseases, insects are enemies: rose leafhoppers, green aphids, thrips, spider mites. To get rid of pests, insecticides are used.
- Trim... Pruning of this variety should be done twice a year: in spring and autumn. In spring, getting rid of old, diseased, dead branches stimulates the flowering of the plant. Do not forget to remove the dead parts of the plant, but only after the buds appear. The tops of the remaining branches are cut at an angle so that no more than four buds are present on the shoot, otherwise the flowers will grow small. In summer, the shoots that grow from the rootstock and blind shoots are cut just above the nearest leaf. In the fall, pruning of the variety is carried out in order to prepare the plant for the winter period. As soon as the flowering period ends, all flowering shoots of the past year should be cut off. Those shoots that grew in summer must be shortened to 40 centimeters.

Top 10 Rare varieties of roses
In the house of my childhood, there was a tea rose bush of light pink color. Every spring, the rose was lushly covered with flowers and exuded an unforgettable scent. Many years have passed, but the scent and appearance of a blooming tea rose still evokes warm feelings and some nostalgia for childhood. In general, the queen of flowers, the rose lost ground a little in the 20th century, when flowers from all over the world became available to gardeners. But very soon the breeders grabbed their heads, and the world saw many new varieties! The most unusual and rare varieties of roses are in our TOP. 1 Black rose
The black rose is a record holder not only for rarity, but also for heavy metals, which are more in this flower than in any other rose. True black roses grow in Turkey, although by adding dye directly to the plant, an amateur can darken any rose.
2 Rainbow rose
This is exactly what they do with rainbow roses, which are originally monocoloric. Then different dyes are added to them, thanks to which each petal gets its own color. Only one company in the world is professionally engaged in such transformations, so these roses are both expensive and rare.
3 Blue Rose Suntory Aploz
There are no blue roses in the world, it is either an artificial color or a fake. But breeders are still trying to breed naturally blue flower. It is believed that the most successful in this are the Japanese, who presented the world's bluest rose in 2009.
4 Chinese rose Viridiflora
Chinese rose, Viridiflora rose, green rose - this plant is one of the most amazing among the whole family. Botanists say that the petals of this rose are nothing more than sepals, but the scent will convince you otherwise.
Osiria is one of the most rare varieties of roses, the petals of which have different colors outside and inside, this time - burgundy and white.
6 Rose Grace
If you really love roses, then you can turn them into almost any flower. There are bindweed roses, clematis, peonies, but this particular Grace variety is practically indistinguishable from dahlias. A rare variety that more and more amateurs acquire over the years.
Step by step instructions: how to paint in a similar color?
It is not easy to acquire an original black rose, but, if desired, it can be easily obtained by painting.
Choosing a variety for painting
- The rose must be fresh.
- The buds must be closed.
- The stem is long and even.
- It is preferable to choose white roses for painting. In extreme cases, a good result is obtained when using cream or light yellow flowers (learn about yellow roses here).
- The "Wendela" variety is considered ideal for painting.
Inventory
- Warm water.
- Any convenient container (glass, vase, etc.).
- Sharp knife.
- Dye.It can be absolutely anything (black ink, food coloring, gouache, marker refill), but it is preferable to use a specialized paint for flowers. So the colored rose will not lose its presentation much longer and will look more natural. However, you can rarely find such paint and only in special online stores.
Process
It should be borne in mind that painting a rose takes a long time (from 15 to 28 hours).
When painting, the color and leaves on the stem will change. Therefore, it is recommended to cut them off before starting work.- Dissolve the selected colorant thoroughly in a container of warm water. The color of the water should be as dense and saturated as possible.
- Add a little sugar to the solution so that the dye is absorbed better.
- Use a knife to cut the stem diagonally (indent from the edge - about 1 cm). It is recommended to make the cut area as large as possible for better hydration.
- Immediately after trimming, it is recommended to hold the cut under running water to remove small air bubbles.
- Place the rose in a container with the solution and keep at room temperature for at least 15 hours. The longer the flower is colored in this way, the richer the resulting color will be.
- Once the petals are sufficiently colored, place the flower in a container of clean water.
Black roses
Black roses are beautiful, charming and completely ambiguous flowers. They are a symbol of death, sadness, mystery and magic. But in nature, black roses do not exist, since roses do not have black pigment. And yet after a long crossing of dark red roses, scientists have obtained roses of very dark shades; they are called black. Since black is the color of sophistication, grace and elegance, black roses make wonderful business bouquets intended for official celebrations. Black also means mystery, magic and magic. After all, the black rose is often used in magical actions.
The first mention of the black rose is associated with the city of Halfeti (Turkey). It was there that flowers with absolutely black petals grew, which they began to cross with roses. These petals have received a dark shade due to specific substances in the soil. These substances gave a high level of acidity to the soil exactly at the moment when these bushes began to bloom. When Euphrates overflowed the banks and flooded this city, this shrub, blooming with black roses, was ranked as an endangered variety.
Features of planting black roses
These flowers are hybrids of a new generation and are much less demanding to care for than earlier-breeding rose bushes. However, some features when growing black roses should be known:
- these new varieties are more resistant to frost and generally tolerate frosts well down to -20 ° C. But nevertheless, in the central regions of our country, they will have to be sheltered for the winter, since often in the middle of winter the thermometer in these regions can drop much lower;
- bushes should be regularly trimmed, and not only unnecessary shoots should be removed, but also damaged and old branches. Flowers that do not bloom for the first season are necessarily pruned every fall;
- black roses are used not only to decorate flower beds, but also in alpine hills, as well as to create hedges;
- in order for this shrub to bloom throughout the season, it requires certain agrotechnical measures.
Black roses are not recommended to be planted in areas where direct sunlight falls on them in the middle of the day. It is better that the roses grow in an area where there is enough warmth, and the sunlight is diffused. Direct sunlight reduces the decorative qualities of black flowers - they fade and fade faster. In addition, foliage in direct sunlight can be severely burned and also killed.
They do not like these roses and nearby soil waters. In this case, drainage material should be placed on the bottom of the planting holes, and the planting beds should be made higher than usual.
The soil for planting roses should be light, preferably loamy. Roses respond very well to fertilizers, especially organic ones. It is best to bring rotted cow dung under these bushes.
Seedlings should not be planted in the same flower beds where they grew before. After a suitable place for planting rose seedlings has been selected and prepared, you need to decide on the planting material.
Top dressing
With the arrival of spring, start "giving" nitrogen fertilizers to your pet. When the first buds hatch, switch to feeding with mullein and organic fertilizers - and so on until mid-August.
From this period, do not add anything to the plant's diet, except for potash fertilizers. Such a "diet" will provide your flower with growth and abundant, long-lasting flowering for you - the enjoyment of its exquisite beauty.
In addition to feeding, care should include regular watering, and it is better to do this right under the root, weeding from weeds, loosening the soil and mulching - in general, everything is as always.
And despite its vaunted frost resistance, Black Magic must be prepared for overwintering, if you do not want it to lose its charm. What is the preparation? As always - pruning in the fall, hilling, shelter for the winter.

Rose varieties Schwartz Madonna
This vigorous hybrid tea rose is arguably the darkest red rose to date. Unfortunately, the rose doesn't smell at all. However, in all other respects it is a great variety. The flowers are large, densely double, very dark red, almost black, like velvet, especially on the outside. They keep the color well, and the flowers themselves stay on the bush for a long time and stand well in the cut. They usually appear one at a time at the ends of strong shoots. The bush is tall, powerful, with dark green shiny foliage, resistant to diseases, which beautifully sets off the flowers. It branches well, over time the bush grows strongly in breadth, with a mass of long shoots, at the ends of which magnificent flowers flaunt.
The matte, velvety red flowers contrast beautifully with the shiny foliage. Looks great when cut. The flowers are almost black, large, densely double. The foliage is reddish, then dark green, shiny. The aroma is weak, the bush is erect, well branched.
