The danger of the Colorado potato beetle is known not only to amateur gardeners, but also to people who have never been involved in growing potatoes. This insect is capable of destroying the entire crop that the farmer hoped to get, survive during a terrible drought or terrible frost, adapt to any weather and develop immunity to the poison used by humans against him.

However, on the Russian market there is a remedy to which Colorada does not develop immunity. This is "Corado" - a modern insecticide.

General description and features of the drug Corado

Corado is a water-soluble concentrate that protects potatoes from aphids and Colorado potato beetle for 3-4 weeks after application. It differs from other means of a similar purpose by the economy of use: the consumption of the drug is only 1 ml per hundred square meters. Despite the fact that it is better to choose a sunny day for processing, the poison is not washed off during the rain, does not lose its effectiveness, and does not pollute the soil.

Corado penetrates deep into the plant, making it poisonous for the insect, reliably protecting it during the period of beetle activity (3-4 weeks). The drug is safe for people and pets if all the necessary safety measures are taken. The main quality for which Corado is appreciated is its low price and destructive power.

How to prepare the solution correctly?

To prepare the Corado working solution, you first need to carefully study the instructions - the dosage insert for the drug, only then proceed to the implementation.

  1. The ideal container for diluting with Corado is a clean bucket with volume marks up to 5L.
  2. Pour about 1.5 liters of water into a bucket.
  3. 1 ml of a liquid preparation is poured into it, breaking the ampoule.
  4. Shake the liquid gently.
  5. Bring the volume of water to 5 liters.
  6. Gently mix again.

With this amount of solution, you can treat an area with potatoes of 1 hundredth. If it seems to you that there are a lot of larvae and beetles, you need to make a more concentrated solution using 3-5 ml of the product per 10 liters of water.

On a note! For dilution, use warm water so that the concentrate is completely dissolved.

To get the maximum effect from the product, it is recommended to strictly follow all the instructions attached to it, the correct dosage is important. Before preparing the mixture, you need to estimate the volume of the site. One ampoule of the drug is dissolved in 5 liters of water. It is desirable that the liquid in which the agent is diluted is at room temperature. At the end of the preparation of the solution, the diluted Corado is poured into the container of the sprayer, and the processing of the garden begins.

Please note that the agent is very poisonous and dangerous to humans. Protect the skin and respiratory tract before processing the plants. The last time you need to process the garden is when there are 3 weeks left before harvesting.

Composition and principle of action

The active ingredient is imidacloprid (200g / l), which belongs to the chemical class of neonicotinoids. The main property of this class of organic compounds is a high danger to insects, but minimal to mammals.They have low volatility, almost not exposed to the negative effects of sunlight and water.

After being applied to potatoes, the insecticide quickly gets inside. This not only creates a protective effect, but also naturally stimulates the growth of culture. When the insect starts lunch, a micro dose of imidacloprid will immediately enter its body, sufficient to limit the beetle's mobility and appetite. The paralyzed pest will die in 2-3 days.

Note! The drug is fatal to honey insects. Not recommended for use in the presence of an apiary.

Historical reference

Liquid in ampoule or bottle - a solution of a substance called imidacloprid at a concentration of 200 g / l. This newest chemical was developed by the German chemical-pharmaceutical company Bayer. Her sole worldwide patent recently expired, and now imidacloprid can be freely produced and sold by any enterprise. A large number is produced by China and supplied for packaging to other countries.

Imidacloprid belongs to the chemical group of neonicotinoids - artificial analogs of the natural nicotine alkaloid.

Instructions for use

How to prepare the solution?

Complete instructions for using the drug Corado from the Colorado potato beetle and aphids looks like this:

  1. Take the number of ampoules required for your site (at the rate of 1 ml per hundred square meters)
  2. Dissolve the insecticide in water (4 liters per 1 ml of the preparation).
  3. In order for Corado to better anchor on the surface of the plant, it is recommended to add 50 g of soap to the solution, crushed on a fine grater, and then stir until completely dissolved.

After preparing the solution, the final mixture must be poured into a spray bottle and the plants must be carefully processed.

Note! Corado is not suitable for tank processing (Apaches from the Colorado potato beetle - instructions for use)!

Usage guide

For processing plants, you need to choose a dry, windless day. It is advisable to check the weather forecast in advance, if rains are expected, then it is better to refuse the procedure, since Corado requires at least 3-6 hours of direct contact with the plant before the drug is completely absorbed. The rain will wash it off the potato peel, reducing the efficiency of processing or even completely leveling it. The ideal time is considered either early morning (no later than 10 o'clock) or late evening (no earlier than 19 o'clock), during this period the leaves of the plant will be folded, and the quality of absorption will increase.

Several treatments cannot be carried out during the same season, as this can negatively affect the plant. Corado reliably protects against the Colorado potato beetle on potatoes, however, after 3 seasons, the quality of the poison decreases, since the insect gets used to imidacloprid, and therefore the product containing this active substance will cease to work.

After processing, the plant will gradually wash out the Corado from itself. After 20-30 days, the solution will completely come out of the potatoes and its protective properties will end. Processing during flowering is also not recommended.

Note! After processing, at least 30 days must elapse before harvesting and eating the processed potatoes.

Brief characteristics of the drug

Corado is a concentrated solution with a pungent odor. It goes on sale packaged in sealed ampoules of 1 ml or in vials with a capacity of 10 and 25 ml. The tightness of the packaging of the vials protects the drug from spills during transportation.

The active ingredient of the drug is imidacloprid from the neonicotinoid class, the content of which is 200 g / l. An analogue of "Corado" is "Confidor" - a drug that contains the same active ingredient.

The agent for danger to humans belongs to the third class, the hazard class for bees is the first.

This insecticide has several methods of penetration:

  • intestinal;
  • contact;
  • systemic.

The main advantage of "Corado" over other insecticides is its long-term effectiveness: insects do not get used to the agent, even if adults or larvae miraculously managed to survive after the first treatment for 3 seasons. After that, it will need to be alternated with an insecticide, which includes another active ingredient.

Precautions

For processing, you will need tight clothing that reliably covers all areas of the skin, as well as a gauze mask. Garments will need to be machine washed with powder before next use. If a part of the solution has been spilled on trousers or a jacket, the clothes should be removed as soon as possible, without dismissing the fact that it will dry out like that. Prolonged skin contact with insecticide is hazardous to health.

If the drug gets into the eyes or mouth, it can cause poisoning. In no case should it be processed against the wind. It is better to keep the spray gun at arm's length from the face. If Corado is still in the oral cavity, you need to immediately stop the treatment and rinse your mouth several times. Then you need to drink 3-4 glasses of warm water and induce an emetic reaction. After finishing the procedure, drink activated charcoal and rest. In case of contact with eyes, it is worth rinsing them for 10-15 minutes, trying to induce tears in yourself.

When making a solution or processing, the presence of children, animals, pregnant women nearby is unacceptable. In the event that pets walk uncontrollably around the country house or country house where insects were exterminated, it is better to limit the access of pets to the garden for several days. It is also worth making sure that they do not eat poisoned insects. despite the fact that the dose of poison contained in the body of beetles is extremely small, the animal may suffer if it is full of them for pleasure.

In case your dog or cat likes to poke around in the trash can, wrap the used bottles in a transparent bag. If a child or pet comes into direct contact with the drug, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Note! It is not recommended to take breaks for food and water during processing. Smoking is also prohibited. After work, you will need to wash your hands and face with soap and water.

How to breed Apaches correctly

The active substance amidacloprid in Corado is a neuroparalytic poison with a specific property. After penetrating into the sap of the plant, the poison is absorbed, moves through the vessels, being distributed throughout all its parts. Under the damaging effect of the active substance, the transmission of impulses from the central nervous system to muscle cells is blocked.

Poisoning causes involuntary muscle contractions, which gradually become convulsive and then completely paralyzed, as a result of which the larvae that eat the leaves of the plants die.

On a note! A distinctive feature of pesticides based on imidacloprid is that there is no addictive ability of pests to this poison.

The mechanism of action of Apache is different from other insecticides, therefore, high efficiency is achieved in destroying pests. Three directions of the drug's work:

  • intestinal. Pests die when the plant parts treated with mordant enter the body;
  • translaminar. Penetration of the components of the agent into plant tissues, prolonged protection against insects;
  • contact. The death of insects after contact with the treated parts of the bushes covered with a film.

After contact of pests (adults, larvae) with a poisonous liquid or film, their death occurs within half an hour.New shoots and leaves that have grown after treatment will contain a dose of clothianidin that is killing for beetles and larvae for a whole month after using Apache.

Corado preparation instructions for use from the Colorado potato beetle

The waiting period for the action of the poison from the Colorado potato beetle is 10-14 hours. The duration of the protection period is up to 30 days (the exact dates are determined by the weather and the degree of infection). For the terrestrial part of plants, roots, tubers, the drug is harmless (no phytotoxicity). In the Russian Federation, the Apache remedy was registered in 2008 as a drug against the Colorado potato beetle.

The preparation is accompanied by detailed instructions in Russian. The provisions tell about the step-by-step preparation of Apache working solutions from the Colorado potato beetle, how to breed the product, the proportions for various types of pests are indicated.

One sachet (0.5 grams) from the kit is designed for spraying two hundred square meters of potato beds. Cooking steps:

  1. Water is poured into the container (10 liters);
  2. Drop the bag of granules (0.5 grams).
  3. Mix gently and process the plantings for three hours.

The number of bags is increased depending on the area of the field. For large potato plantations (for example, 10 acres), it is convenient to first prepare the mother liquor (concentrate):

  1. Five bags with a total weight of 2.5 grams are dissolved in a liter of water.
  2. Stir the preparation thoroughly.
  3. When spraying, add 200 grams of concentrate to a bucket of clean water.

One liter of concentrate is sufficient for 50 liters of working solution.

For soil cultivation in the aisles, the concentration is increased by taking 1 gram of the preparation (two sachets) per ten-liter bucket.

In farms, Apaches are often used in bottles of 250 grams.

Advantages and disadvantages

Benefits

The two main qualities for which Corado is valued in the market are economy and reliability. It is rarely necessary to spend even 100 rubles on the processing of the site, and the effect obtained will last for 20-30 days. The weather does not affect the quality of protection in any way (except for sudden rains that occurred immediately after spraying, then it is better to repeat the procedure after 1-2 days).

In addition to destroying insects, the drug has a beneficial effect on the plant itself, increasing the quality of the recovery process after wounds received from pests.

The active active ingredient, imidacloprid, acts not only on Colorado beetles, but also on many other insects: aphids, scoops, filoxers, as well as other food lovers at your expense (Unfortunately, it does not work on annoying guests).

Disadvantages:

  1. Dangerous for bees. It is not recommended to use Corado if you or your neighbors have your own apiary.
  2. Corado is not suitable for preventive treatment, as it is a direct poison.
  3. Not suitable for tank processing.

Pros and cons of the remedy

The Apache remedy is appreciated by gardeners and farmers in various regions of the country. The drug has a number of advantages:

  • created according to a new formula, using a special class of active substance that does not cause resistance in the Colorado potato beetle;
  • fast local systemic activity;
  • high resistance to precipitation;
  • does not lose its effect under the influence of UV rays;
  • profitability;
  • fewer sprays of the crop are required;
  • extermination of insects on young shoots that form after treatments;
  • rapid decomposition into safe components;
  • non-volatile drug;
  • absence of dust particles when preparing solutions;
  • fast solubility of granules in water;
  • compatibility with other products in tank mixes;
  • according to expert research, Apache is practically non-toxic to fish, aquatic organisms, birds.

Convenient packaging is another "plus" of the product, while a set of five sachets of 0.5 grams is enough to process 10 acres of a vegetable garden.

"Minuses":

  • Apache toxicity for bees (class I), therefore, the agent is used only in areas remote from apiaries;
  • the ready-made solution is not intended for storage (it is consumed immediately after diluting the granules);
  • the high cost of the product (a set of sachets of 2.5 grams - about 200 rubles).

At the same time, the effectiveness of the insecticide compensates for the costs, since if at least part of the potato crop is lost, the damage is much more serious.

Efficiency and analogues

In some cases, the purchase of Corado is impossible (say, there are no ampoules in the store, or you have already processed the beds with it for 3 years in a row). In this case, you will have to use one of the analogues.

Description and characteristics

Imidacloprid, which is well known to us from Kortlis, Destroy, Kalash, Iskra, is the main active agent. This neonicotinoid, penetrating into the pest's body, binds to postsynaptic nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of the central nervous system and blocks the transmission of nerve impulses at the level of the postsynaptic membrane. Insects die in convulsions and paralysis.

The substance has a long-term residual activity and continues to protect plants for 14-28 days after treatment

The composition is complemented by the avermectin complex, which is a toxic substance from the waste products of the fungi Streptomyces avermitilis. It has a strong neurotoxic effect.

The components of "Corado" enter the body of insects mainly in two ways - intestinal and contact. As a result, the following result is achieved:

  • Death of adult beetles.
  • Destruction of larvae.
  • A sharp decrease in the possibilities of eggs for further development.

Insecticide "Corado" is packed in small bottles and ampoules from 1 to 20 ml.

It is important to know that the substance is extremely dangerous for bees. It belongs to the 3rd class of hazard. Therefore, during use, you must follow the precautions (described in the instructions).

Insects cannot develop resistance to active ingredients, so repeated treatments are no less effective than the first. Despite this, experts advise alternating between different means to obtain the maximum effect.

The effect of the drug practically does not decrease with prolonged rains and in hot weather. The death of pests occurs within 2-3 days after the application of the insecticide.

In addition to the Colorado potato beetle, "Corado" allows you to cope with aphids, ticks, thrips and a number of other insects.

The manufacturer does not recommend the simultaneous use of this product with other drugs. "Corado" itself acts in a complex manner and performs protective functions for 4 weeks. Final processing should be done no later than 3 weeks before harvest.

How to process?

One 1 ml ampoule "Corado" should be carefully diluted in 5 liters of water.This amount is enough to get rid of bugs on a 100 m2 plot. After that, the resulting composition is poured into a spray bottle and the processing of plants begins. When handling, protect the respiratory tract and skin of the hands first.

Processing is carried out in the morning or evening, in calm dry weather.

Attention! Do not use the product if there is an apiary nearby.

Precautions

When working with "Corado" the following safety measures should be observed:

  • All manipulations with the drug, including the preliminary preparation of the working solution, should be performed in protective clothing, a respirator or gauze bandage and glasses (mask).
  • During processing, smoke breaks, stops for eating and drinking, and going to the toilet are prohibited.
  • Children and pets must be removed from the work site in advance.
  • At the end of the spraying, take a shower, rinse your throat and rinse your nose.
  • If the product comes into contact with the skin and eyes, they should be washed immediately with plenty of water (preferably with soap).
  • If swallowed, drink plenty of activated charcoal and call an ambulance.

Additionally, before use, carefully read the instructions that come with the drug.

Testimonials

Oksana, Vologda A friend told me about Corado when I was visiting her in Krasnoyarsk. To be honest, I was just tortured by Colorado beetles in my summer cottage. I tried everything: I poisoned it with tobacco and collected it by hand. I’m ashamed to say, but I even went to see our witch, Baba Zina. She gave a slander, which, of course, did not help. But Corado coped with his task with a bang! Finally, I can safely plant potatoes, knowing that no one will spoil it.

Oleg Petrovich, I used the village of Kazminskoe Korado for three years, now I am looking for a replacement tool. During the entire service life of this drug, beetles were not noticed by me, although they used to cause a lot of concern. Before that, I used other means, the names of which, of course, I don’t remember (the case was 5 years ago), but they did not have such an effect, but Corado helped out well.

Natasha, St. Petersburg Recently, my friends and I have finally moved to an ecovillage near St. Petersburg, where we independently grow all the necessary vegetables and fruits. We process potatoes with Corado, my grandmother recommended it to me. Honestly, I can't say how effective it is, since we are using it for the first time, but a woman from the nearest store, learning that we have no bugs, asked the name and even wrote it down. She said she was using another remedy, so far zero results.

The mechanism of action of the drug

Many gardeners are wondering how the drug works, providing such amazing reliability. In fact, everything is very simple: first it gets on the plants, absorbing into them from the roots to the uppermost shoots. After contact with beetles, it enters the body of parasites in the intestinal or systemic way and binds to the receptors of the nervous system. This, in turn, causes convulsions and subsequent paralysis.

Lack of movement and inability to eat entails the death of pests, leaving them no opportunity to survive. The maximum activity remains for 28 days, although it may continue to act for several more days, after which the treatment can be repeated.

Precautions when working with the product

Since the drug has a toxic effect on the human body, the following precautions must be observed during work:

  • do not allow particles of the drug to get on the mucous and bare areas of the body. Processing must be carried out in a protective suit, thick rubber gloves and closed shoes.Goggles and a respirator are used to protect the face. It is recommended to wear a waterproof raincoat over the suit;
  • during processing, smoking, eating, drinking is prohibited;
  • upon completion of work, you must change clothes, take a shower and rinse your mouth with a weak solution of manganese. To prepare it, place 3-4 manganese crystals in a glass of water, mix the contents of the glass well, and then dilute the solution to a slightly pink color by pouring into another container.
