Scabies mite: how to get rid of an unpleasant neighborhood

Home »Home and Life» How to get rid of dust mites at home?

Dust mite is a microscopic spider most often not dangerous and many people should not be afraid of it..

It can live anywhere in your home, but a common man cannot see this arachnid creature.

Only under a microscope can you see what a tick looks like. Although they are tiny, they can be very harmful to health.

Arachnids leave their feces and thus cause allergies and even asthma in a large number of people. These parasites coexist peacefully with many people, although they are small in size, they bite. Their bites on the body do not leave visible marks. The mites bite off the old skin and the cleansing process takes place.

There are times when a dust mite bite is diagnosed, but this is not the case, human skin reacts to tick feces.

Thus, red, pimples appear on the part of the body that touches the feces. Which at the same time, itch. Most of the mite is found in mattresses and pillows, they are the ones that need to be cleaned most often.

note! The mite can live in your pillow, couch, bed, and elsewhere in your home.

Therefore, it is necessary, at home, to take measures against dust mites, do wet and dry cleaning, ventilate in an apartment or at home.

Use a special spray, lower the temperature in the room to 18-20 degrees. Thus, the surface is treated and the dust mite is dealt with.

Table options for how to get rid of dust mites and prevention from them:

What does an itch mite look like and where does it live?

Scabies itch (scientific name Sarcoptes scabiei) belongs to the order of sarcoptiform mites. The appearance of the parasite resembles a tiny turtle, the body of which consists of a head and cephalothorax. The maximum size for females is 0.45 mm, for males 0.23 mm. The yellowish body of the itch is covered with sharp scales that help it to make moves in the host's skin. True, due to the direction of these plates backward, the tick cannot return along the tunnel made and is only able to move forward.

The parasite has no eyes, is devoid of segments and is covered with folds. The role of the olfactory and tactile organs is played by pedipalps, which, when fused, form the proboscis of the itch. The tick has 4 pairs of almost invisible legs, consisting of 6 segments, on the front pair there are suction cups for easier movement of the parasite.The bristles on the hind legs allow the itch to move in the desired direction. The last pair of legs, located on the abdomen, almost atrophied as unnecessary.

People suffering from several diseases at the same time with many symptoms, or in some conditions (HIV, old age, adaptation of the body after organ transplants, etc.), for a long time may not notice the manifestations of scabies at all.

Scabies itching is a common "companion" of humans and other mammals

Norwegian scabies - a complication of common scabies

Separately, it is worth talking about this form of complication of ordinary scabies as Norwegian scabies. It is characterized by the formation of gray scales and crusts on the patient's skin, while itching is usually absent. Since the first case of detection in 1847 in Norway, this disease has been recorded around the world no more than one hundred and fifty times.

This ailment is caused by a scabies mite and the Norwegian variety differs from ordinary scabies only in that it occurs in persons suffering from immunodeficiency. In addition, a similar complication can occur in patients with such serious diseases as: tuberculosis, leprosy, leukemia, etc. There is also a genetic affiliation to this type of disease, which can be identified using genetic tests.

Starting like ordinary scabies, its Norwegian version differs from it in that it lasts for years, and the patient constantly re-infects itself. At the same time, nodules and bubbles appearing on the skin give the patient serious discomfort, especially at night. Since the illness can last for years, ulcers and sores can cover the entire skin in pain. In addition, in some cases, the presence of up to a million parasites in the human body is recorded, despite the fact that with ordinary scabies their number does not exceed twenty.

One of the main signs of Norwegian scabies is the appearance of dirty gray, brown, yellow and green crusts on the skin. In addition, in some places, such crusts can merge, forming a kind of continuous "shell" throughout the body, having a thickness of up to two or three centimeters. In such scales, parasites make passages of several floors.

Other signs of Norwegian scabies include:

  • the presence of red, loose skin under the crust;
  • complete absence of itching;
  • the presence of scanty hair;
  • degeneration and thickening of the nail plates;
  • the smell of fermented dough emanating from the patient;
  • enlarged lymph nodes;
  • damage to almost all areas of the skin.

Treatment of Norwegian scabies is the same as usual, while it is necessary to treat the underlying disease and increase the body's immune status. In the event that medical care measures are taken on time, the prognosis for the patient's cure is very favorable. By the way, this disease is very contagious, so treatment should take place in an infectious box.

Stages of the life cycle of itch pruritus

Like other animals, scabies mites go through a certain development cycle. The larva of the parasite appears from the egg, which immediately begins to move along all layers of the skin (adult itch lives only between the horny and granular).

The larval stage lasts 4 days; after its passage, the newborn parasite turns into a protonymph. This period of the life of the itch lasts 5 days, then molt and transformation into teleonymph begin. After the next molt, which occurs after 6 days, an adult emerges.

Scabies itch cannot be seen with the naked eye

Upon reaching puberty, the parasites climb to the surface of the epidermis and begin to mate. After intercourse, the male dies, and the female descends to the main habitat and lays eggs on the way (two to three per day), which mature in 3–7 days.In the process of creating masonry, substances poisonous for the host's body are released, provoking inflammatory processes in the skin. Under ideal conditions, the female lays up to 90 eggs, dying a month after hatching.

Active mating and reproduction of parasites occurs between September and December. This is explained by the fact that ticks do not like hot and dry weather, in addition, the sweat released during the heat prevents them from eating and reproducing normally. The parasites move faster under the skin at night, which makes the itching almost unbearable in the morning.

In the course of its life cycle, itch itch undergoes several complex metamorphoses.

Dust mite description

Dust mite

Who lives in the dust? This question was asked by many scientists, and it was only in 1964 that British researchers discovered in their dust samples mites of the Pyroglyphidae class, the species Dermatophagoides pteronyssnus. House dust mite, unlike others, is not a parasite, it feeds mainly on accumulations of dust, fluff and feathers. Insects belong to the class of arachnids.

These representatives of arthropods live in almost all parts of the planet, the ideal habitat for them is living quarters with an air temperature of 17 to 26C ° and a humidity of more than 50%. Scientists have established that up to twenty thousand parasites can live in one gram of dust. On average, they live for 3 months, during which time one individual lays more than 200 eggs, and leaves behind a huge mass of excrement. Small creatures can be detected only with a microscope, their size is 0.1-0.4 mm.

Additional Information! To date, zoologists have discovered more than 150 species of dust mites, the most common are pyroglyphid or dermatophagoid mites.

Why the scabies mite is dangerous for humans

Scabies, although not fatal, has many unpleasant consequences. Among them:

  • inability to sleep normally due to severe nighttime itching;
  • the possibility of a secondary infection after microbes get into combed skin, which can be fraught with blood poisoning;
  • nervous exhaustion due to itching and chronic lack of sleep;
  • unaesthetic appearance of combed places;
  • high probability of infection of all family members;
  • difficulties in communicating with people due to their fear of infection.

How does the infection take place

Once on the skin of a new host, the parasite begins to look for areas with the most delicate and thin skin and invades them. Among the most vulnerable spots:

  • armpits;
  • space between the toes;
  • folds in the groin and mammary glands in women;
  • penile skin in men;
  • bend of the elbow;
  • inner thighs and abdomen.

Interestingly, in adults, itching never affects the areas of the body and head that are abundantly covered with hair. At the same time, in children, the parasite is most often localized on the face, as well as on the palms, soles of the feet, and buttocks.

An hour after it enters the epidermis, the adult parasite gnaws through the vertical passage, getting into the stratum corneum of the skin it needs. And there it already begins to move parallel to the surface, creating tunnels under the skin. The tick moves in passages at a speed of 0.5 to 2.5 mm per day.

Intolerable itching under the skin of an infected with scabies occurs during the movement of the female parasite through the layers of the epidermis

You can get infected:

  • when using common linen and other hygiene items;
  • with any skin contact.

Most often people who live in the same confined space, for example, an orphanage, a prison, a shelter, a military barracks, etc., suffer scabies. However, quite often you can catch an infection even by simply riding in a train compartment. The incubation period for primary infection with itch itch is 8-10 days. If you have previously had scabies, the first symptoms may appear after 4 days.

Scabies treatment methods

As a rule, if scabies is found in one family member, then almost all family members have to be treated, since the mites easily move to a "fresh" object. A professional approach to treatment in combination with preventive measures allows you to avoid re-infection.

The course of treatment includes:

  • Measures to identify the causes of the appearance of scabies mites.
  • Taking measures to destroy parasites.
  • Providing assistance to the victim in order to relieve him of the painful sensations.
  • Taking measures to prevent the spread of parasites.

The main actions are:

  • From the identification of the focus of infection.
  • From the definition of the circle of patients who were in contact with the patient.
  • From the sanitization of the room and clothing.
  • From therapeutic methods, including the use of special ointments that destroy parasites.
  • From a set of preventive measures.

On a note! Scabies is considered a serious contagious disease that requires immediate treatment. Self-medication or refusal of treatment by specialists can lead to unpredictable consequences. As a rule, in such cases, all family members, as well as acquaintances or friends, suffer. Infected people should be mindful of those around them so as not to infect them with a dangerous disease.

Medications

Effective anti-scab drugs include substances such as permethrin, sulfur and benzyl benzoate. Already on the 5th or 6th day, a positive result from the use of such drugs is noticeable. In cases of neglect, the cure period increases.

The main drugs used against scabies mite:

  • Means "Medifox", which consists of the active ingredient permethrin. The substance is not highly toxic to humans. The drug is used on the second and fourth day of the treatment course. Sometimes, one treatment is enough to cope with parasites that are at any stage of development. "Medifox" is used for the most difficult forms of scabies.
  • Sulfur ointment is a traditional remedy. The ointment is rubbed into the affected areas overnight. A similar procedure is repeated every day for 5 days. For adults, it is enough to use 10-20% sulfuric ointment, and for children - 5%. Higher concentrations of the ointment are not used, as this leads to skin irritation.
  • Means "Spregal". This effective drug can be used to treat both adults and children. The affected areas are treated once a day, after which you can not take a bath or shower for 12 hours. If after the first application of the substance it was not possible to cope with the parasites, then repeated use is possible. The drug is not used in the head area. As a prophylaxis, the composition is applied on the 2nd and 4th day of the course of treatment.
  • Emulsion of benzyl benzoate in the form of a water-soap solution. The drug is highly effective on adults, but does not cope with the larvae during the first treatment. Therefore, re-processing is needed in the evening. When applying the solution, you need to carefully handle the fingers, hands, soles and other affected areas. This must be done 2 times, with an interval of 10 minutes. If the skin is sensitive enough, irritation may occur. This usually happens in children.

On a note! An effective antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent is Zinc Ointment. It is used to relieve itching and inflammation of the affected areas. Unfortunately, this ointment does not kill ticks, so it cannot be used as the main remedy.

How to apply ointments correctly

Ointments that are used to treat scabies require proper application. For example:

  • The ointment is applied not only to those areas that are affected by the tick, but also to areas located nearby.
  • The use of folk remedies that reduce the degree of discomfort is unacceptable as essential drugs.It is impossible to reduce the level of negative sensations without destroying the scabies mite, as this can mislead both the victim and the doctor, complicating the entire course of the disease in the future.
  • It must be remembered that when the parasites are destroyed, the feeling of discomfort increases. To get rid of this, it is enough to drink pills for allergies, such as "Cetrina", "Claritin", "Suprastin", "Fexofenadina".
  • After applying the ointments, the substance should remain on the skin for up to 12 hours. For children, this period lasts no more than 6 hours.
  • On the hairy part of the head, the ointment is applied to children under the age of 3 years. Older victims do not need such treatment.
  • The use of any formulations for the treatment of scabies should be carried out only under the supervision of a dermatologist. The doctor must check that all parasites are killed and that there are no side effects from the drugs used. Self-purchase and use of such means of combating scabies mite is unacceptable.
  • To make the ointment work 100%, rub it with your fingers, without using a cotton swab, sponge or bandage, especially in the evening.
  • If the victim lives with the family, preventive measures are applied to all family members, since they have been in contact with the patient.

If you ignore the rules for the use of anti-scab ointments, the effect may be minimal. Some of the products have an irritating effect. Therefore, areas of the body where the skin is thin are treated very carefully, otherwise side effects are possible.

Symptoms, diagnosis, types of disease

Among the symptoms of scabies, there are widespread and atypical ones. Among the first:

  • very severe itching, most often in the space between the fingers;
  • increased itching at night, as well as after a hot shower;
  • elongated white stripes on the skin, the length of which usually reaches no more than 6 mm. A small blister filled with a colorless liquid often forms from one of the edges of this skin lesion; in advanced cases, inflammation begins, and the transparent moisture turns into pus. The affected epidermis becomes covered with a bloody crust;
  • the appearance of numerous rashes is possible as the parasite multiplies under the skin.

The main manifestation of scabies is the appearance of an itch course.
In some cases, most often with strong immunity, the symptoms of the disease appear non-standard or in a blurred form. So, boils can appear on the skin in places of hair growth, nail damage is possible, itching is extremely weak.

One of the atypical symptoms of scabies is nail damage, especially in children.

In children, signs of scabies infection appear slightly differently:

  • a rash can be found on the face and scalp;
  • the baby does not sleep well at night, often cries;
  • enlarged lymph nodes in the groin, armpits, neck (with a very advanced disease);
  • when combing due to the occurrence of pyoderma (secondary infection), an increase in temperature is possible;
  • the site of the rash can become very red, several small bubbles can merge into one large blister (bull) filled with pus.

In small children, the skin is delicate, itch tunnels are easily damaged when combing, and eggs with larvae quickly spread to other areas

How is scabies diagnosed?

For any of the symptoms listed above, you should contact a dermatologist, who, in addition to an external examination, will most likely offer additional tests. So, to detect the "tunnels" made by the parasite, ink or tincture of iodine can drip onto the damaged skin. Scabby passages will be clearly visible under the newest apparatus - a video dermatoscope. An increase of 600 times allows you to see both them and the female who made the "tunnels".

Scraping is a reliable way to detect itch pruritus.To remove it, lactic acid is dripped onto the skin, leaving it for a few minutes. After that, the desired area of the epidermis is removed with a sharp blade and examined under a microscope.

In some cases, the damaged skin is opened with a scalpel, removing the parasite, its eggs or waste products for analysis. Also, itch pruritus can be removed from the edge of the itch course with a sterile needle.

The most reliable method for diagnosing scabies is a microscopic examination of scrapings from the patient's skin.

Types of scabies

The above symptoms are characteristic of standard scabies, while there are atypical forms of it, among them:

  • Norwegian;
  • "Scabies of cleanliness";
  • scabies without strokes.

The first type of scabies is the most rare and affects people most often with immune problems:

  • infected with HIV and AIDS;
  • having malignant neoplasms;
  • have undergone hormonal therapy;
  • suffering from tuberculosis.

Patients with Norwegian scabies do not feel itching due to the overload of the body with pain. In the usual form of the disease, the body is inhabited by no more than 20 ticks, in the same case, more than a million individuals can infect a person. As a result of the appearance of many passages, the epidermis is covered with a continuous bleeding crust, which impedes movement. Norwegian scabies is extremely contagious, so it is treated only in a hospital setting.

The Norwegian form of scabies is characterized by the formation of scabs at the places of combs.

Scabies of cleanliness, which is also called "incognito", occurs in very clean people, who often shower and wash most of the parasites from the skin. Because of this, its symptoms appear in a lubricated form: there are almost no rashes and itching. However, this form is dangerous in that it may flow into a chronic disease that is difficult to treat.

Manifestations of "cleanliness scabies" are minimally expressed

A form of the disease without strokes occurs if the larvae of itch get on the skin. A bubble with liquid appears on the epidermis, but there is no tunnel. This is due to the fact that the young individual is not yet able to gnaw through the course. True, the disease in this case can already be transmitted to others through any physical contact.

Scabies without strokes occurs when the skin is damaged not by adult individuals of ticks, but by their larvae

Diagnosis of scabies in humans

Among the tests that a person who has a suspicion of scabies will have to pass is microscopy of scrapings taken from the places where skin rashes were found. In the case when traces of the vital activity of itch itch are found in such scrapings, he himself or his larvae, the diagnosis can be considered confirmed. At the same time, after confirming the diagnosis, it will be necessary to urgently consult a dermatologist, since the area of infection in the focus of infection, as well as possible secondary bacterial complications of this disease, will directly depend on the urgency of taking measures to treat scabies.

Important! It is worth noting the fact that in the process of carrying out general laboratory tests, it is impossible to get an answer to the question about the presence or absence of scabies in a patient.

So, for example, the same general blood test is able to give an idea only that the level of eosinophils in the patient's blood is increased. This indicates that the patient has begun sensitization. In addition, with a secondary infection, this analysis can establish a picture of inflammation.

Secondary infection in this case can be expressed externally in the appearance of dermatitis, urticaria, pseudolymphoma. This circumstance should be borne in mind by both the patient and his relatives, who, during the entire period of the course of the disease, will need to adhere to preventive measures. These measures include:

  1. Compliance with hygiene rules: washing hands after coming outside, before or after eating, and also after using the toilet.
  2. High-quality thermal treatment of bed and underwear by ironing and its additional disinfection using A-PAR aerosol.
  3. In especially severe cases - burning of the patient's bed, his underwear and dress, personal belongings.
  4. Placement of the patient in a hospital for a dermatovenerologic dispensary.

Important! If there is a suspicion of itching itching, preventive measures should be combined with emergency treatment measures, which should begin with an appointment with a dermatologist, since scabies can disguise itself as diseases such as eczema, pseudosarcoptic mange, pruritus, and atopic dermatitis.

As for complications, in the case when the patient is diagnosed with itch itching, the harm caused can be expressed mainly in causing inconvenience due to the movement of the parasite and its larvae under human skin. As a result, severe itching, nervous tension, irritation, and insomnia may occur. More serious consequences of this disease are usually not recorded.

How and how to properly handle the apartment

To prevent the spread of scabies, pest control of all rooms in the dwelling. Allocate planned and final deacarization (destruction of mites).

The planned processing of the dwelling is carried out daily and consists of the following stages:

  • the patient is isolated in a separate room, giving him personal hygiene items, linen and dishes;
  • every day they carry out wet cleaning in the room - they wash the floors, wipe the furniture, the handles on the doors, the switches. For processing, use a soap-soda solution;
  • disinfect all things and household attributes of the patient. To do this, all bed linen and things that can withstand high temperatures are boiled for 10 minutes using washing powder. And all other household items are taken out into the street at subzero temperatures, leaving there for 5 days. In the warm season, they are tightly wrapped in plastic bags and kept in the open air for a week so that the lurking parasites die of hunger;
  • for the disinfection of sofas, pillows, mattresses and other bulky items, Spregal and A-par means are used. They are sprayed on the surface without further removal, usually a one-time procedure is sufficient.

    A-steam is used for the treatment of surfaces, objects and textiles

In addition, indoor pest control can be carried out using:

  • spraying with karbofos emulsion (concentration 0.3%) or 2% chlorophos solution;
  • treatment with 3-5% lysol solution;
  • pollination with dusts of karbofos, acetophos or methylnitrophos at a concentration of 5%;
  • placing pyrethrum powder on the floor in a room (on average 25 g of substance per 1 m² of area).

How to make a soap and soda solution

To prepare a soap-soda solution, you need:

  1. Grate a 70 g bar of laundry soap and pour 2 liters of cold water over the shavings.
  2. Put the mixture on low heat and cook, stirring continuously, until the soap is completely dissolved.
  3. Add 5 tbsp to the solution. l. (flat) baking soda and bring to a boil.
  4. After boiling, the product is used for another 10 minutes. keep on low heat, then set aside to infuse until thickened.

For the current treatment of the room, a 1% solution is used, for which 100 ml of the base mixture is diluted in 10 liters of water. For final disinfection, a 2% agent is made - 200 ml of the base is diluted in the same 10 liters of water.

Soap and soda solution is the most effective disinfectant for treating scabies

Final disinfection is carried out mainly in public institutions, where a large number of infected people have been recorded. It is carried out by special organizations using physical and chemical methods.

The physical method means disinfestation of bed linen and things using chamber disinfection or boiling. In the process of chemical processing, soaking with antiseptic preparations is used to deacarize things. And walls and other surfaces are sprayed with Tsifox emulsion (concentration - 0.3%) or 0.2% solutions of Medifox Super and ordinary Medifox.

Prevention of the appearance of a tick

Manufacturers of household chemicals to combat ticks offer various products for treating furniture in an apartment and preparations that must be added when washing things. With regular use, the amount required per treatment is reduced.

If bed linen is changed regularly, clothes are often washed, then fabric decorations, for example tapestries, heavy and multi-layered curtains hang in rooms longer. Yes, there may not be much dirt on them, but dust, which means dust mites accumulate there in huge quantities, so the curtains should be washed more often, or even completely abandon them in favor of plastic blinds.

From the heat of the vacuum cleaner motor, the mites begin to multiply at an accelerated pace, so the more often the filter is freed from the accumulated dust, the better. It is important to ventilate the rooms regularly. It is sometimes useful not to make the bed for at least some time after getting up, or even all day.

How to protect yourself from scabies mites

Scabies mites can only get into your home on your hands or on household items belonging to a person infected with itching. Therefore, try not to use other people's hygiene items, and even more so do not bring them to your home. And, of course, wash your hands with soap and water after coming from the street.

In addition, other precautions should be followed:

  • do not wear someone else's linen, use only your own bedding and towels;
  • take a shower every day;
  • wash hands after visiting public places and before eating;
  • wet cleaning weekly;
  • change bedding every week;
  • change underwear every day;
  • iron all linen with a hot iron;
  • try to wash dirty clothes as soon as possible after wearing;
  • cut your nails regularly;
  • in a public sauna, bathhouse or pool, wear only your slippers, a shower cap and use a personal towel;
  • after any suspicious contact or touching an alert object, wash or disinfect hands.

Washing your hands after visiting public places is the best way to protect yourself from scabies.

Ixodid ticks, lice, fleas - all these parasites do not live on human skin, but feed on human blood, which is unpleasant in itself. However, something else is much more important: ticks and fleas are carriers of pathogens of many dangerous diseases, so their bite can cause not only discomfort in the form of itching, but also a deadly disease.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with: Brown spots on the hands: causes and methods of getting rid of || Dark spots on the pads of the fingers

Lice from this point of view are less dangerous, but the head lice caused by them causes considerable damage to the hair of an infected person. This is why it is so important to get information about these parasites.

What pets are susceptible to attack by sarcoptic mange mites

Scabies mites show relative "fidelity" to one host and most often infect humans. However, in some cases, pets can also become infected.

Sarcoptes scabiei, which cause scabies in humans, can also be transmitted to dogs, causing sarcoptic mange. Moreover, the course of the disease will be quite difficult. Also, these pets often suffer from scabies caused by the mites Demodex folliculorum and Demodex brevis. Parasites of the species Notoedres cati, which cause severe itching, can cause serious harm to cats.

But ticks, parasitizing exclusively on animals, can, of course, move to humans, but they are not capable of causing serious harm. They can naturally bite, but the consequence is a minor rash that usually goes away quickly. The fact is that the body of such mites is not adapted for feeding and reproduction in human skin, which means that sooner or later they will die.

Baldness and the appearance of a crust on the combs are the main symptoms of sarcoptic mange in dogs

Ideal living environment in the home

Dust mites mainly accumulate in places such as:

  • A bag for collecting dust in a vacuum cleaner.
  • Bed, namely mattresses, pillows, blanket, bedding.
  • Upholstery of sofas, armchairs.
  • Carpets, rugs.
  • Clothing.
  • Stuffed Toys.
  • Human hair and skin.
  • Pet hair and more.

Microscopic arthropods feed on the epidermis, namely the dead skin particles. Therefore, a human dwelling is an ideal habitat, because during the day several tens of millions of skin scales are exfoliated from each of us.

If you count, then in a year one person sheds 2 kg of dead cells. These cells feed on ticks. But not only constant food is needed for ticks to exist.

In addition, for a prosperous life, they need several conditions:

  1. room temperature 18-25 degrees;
  2. humidity 70-80%
  3. darkness.

That is why insects love to settle in a person's bed so much.

70% of the mite is collected in the bed, mattress and bedding!located in the apartment. And the mattress, in the absence of any treatment, after three years can turn into a den of dust mites and consist of 10% of mites and their excrement.

Treatment scheme for animals at home and prevention of re-infection

For the treatment of sarcoptic mange in cats, Frontline, Advocate, Stronghold drugs are most often used in the form of drops that are applied to the withers. The tool is usually used every two weeks for 3 months. But such drugs as Fosmet, Amitraz and sulphurous lime are applied to the affected areas with a tick during three procedures carried out with an interval of 2 weeks. In some cases, the insecticidal drug Ivermectin is administered, however, it has many contraindications.

For the treatment of dogs from scabies, external preparations containing selamectin and doramectin, sulfur-containing ointments, etc. are prescribed. Every 7 days for 6 weeks, the animal will need to be bathed using special antiparasitic shampoos based on birch tar and chlorhexidine with a keratolytic effect. Among them:

  • DermaPet;
  • Antiparasitic and Antiseborrheic Shampoo from Synergy Labs;
  • Doctor, etc.

Also, the pet is treated with Advantage or Stronghold preparations in the form of drops once. In the case of advanced scabies, injection of Vormil, Ivermectin, Ivermek is possible.

Bathing dogs with healing shampoo is the key to successful scabies treatment

Before using insecticidal ointment:

  1. If your pet's coat is very thick and long, you may need to trim it to apply the product.
  2. It is advisable to bathe the animal or at least wet it with warm water to soften the crusts on the combed areas. The softened scab must be carefully removed from the skin with tweezers. Keratolytic (removing dead cells) and anti-seborrheic shampoos can be used to remove the crust on the affected skin areas and wash off the crawled hair.

After applying medicinal products to the animal, you need to put on a special collar that does not allow licking the wool in order to prevent poisoning of the four-legged friend.

To prevent re-infection:

  • the animal should be kept clean, it is advisable to wash it after every walk on the street;
  • pet bedding should be regularly wiped out and washed;
  • it is preferable to castrate the animal so that it does not feel an ardent desire to meet its love on the street;
  • a fluffy pet needs to be protected from communication with stray brethren;

So dies or not

In general, it is not so important at what temperature the scabies mite dies. The main thing is to be patient and wisely approach the issues of disinfection. You should not, for example, run to the sauna or climb undressed into an industrial refrigerator, because the parasite is still more comfortable inside the body, and you can get "notoriety" or infect someone else in the sauna locker room.

Don't go to extremes. But it is still worth protecting yourself and wisely choosing disinfection methods that are convenient for you, and in which the tick really dies.

And, of course, no matter what temperature variations you choose, you must strictly follow the doctor's instructions and be checked every 10 days for a month and a half.

Scabies during pregnancy

Scabies does not pose a danger to the life and health of the pregnant woman and the fetus, but it leads to uncomfortable sensations. If the disease is not treated, abscesses are observed on the skin, which can provoke infection of the fetus during childbirth.

Scabies of pregnant women is practically no different from the usual form of the disease, however, during gestation, complications such as:

  • dermatitis,
  • pyoderma,
  • eczema.

It is forbidden to carry out self-medication, because the vast majority of drugs are forbidden to be used during gestation.

Pregnant women are allowed to use Spregal aerosol. It has a negative effect on mucous membranes, so it is washed off 12 hours after application. Another remedy is Zinc Ointment, it effectively heals wounds and eliminates itching, but does not kill ticks.

Pregnant women are often recommended to use recipes from folk sources for treatment.

Infection symptoms

In many ways, the danger of infection is posed by female ticks. After sunset, they crawl out to the surface of the epidermis of the human body, since this is the most favorable time for mating. During the day, parasites are inactive.

At night, patients begin to experience severe itching - this is how scabies manifests itself. The classic form of the disease is characterized by symptoms that make it easy to diagnose:

Localization of the parasite. As a rule, itch mite bites are found in areas where the skin is thinner and softer:

  • armpits;

  • on the bends of the elbows;
  • between the phalanges of the fingers;
  • on the inside of the thighs;
  • on the lateral surfaces of the brushes;
  • on the stomach;
  • on the male genitals, in the groin area. In an adult, the skin on the head and face is rougher, so you should not be afraid of the appearance of scabies in these places. In a child, the parasite can live both on the face and on the scalp, which greatly complicates the life of a small patient.

Rash. One of the characteristic symptoms of the disease is scabies. When moving through the upper layer of the epidermis, itching leaves excrement and eggs. The body reacts to the existence of parasites in the skin with rashes in the places of their vital activity.

How do you get infected with a tick?

The fastest is when in contact with a sick person. Less commonly, through objects, clothing. Dermatologists tend to call scabies a sexually transmitted disease because it almost certainly affects both partners during sex. However, this is not quite true. It is more logical to assume that the tick is a contact parasite, which is transmitted during intercourse as well.

  1. In the first place is infection through skin-to-skin contact. The infection begins to spread from the hands.
  2. During intercourse. The infection affects the genitals, abdomen.
  3. In a household way. This path is most common in the family through objects, bed, cutlery. Even children are infected.
  4. In small institutions with close teams that are visited by patients with scabies: kindergartens, boarding schools, barracks, hospitals, prisons.

Norwegian scabies is highly contagious. Although the patient does not feel itching, the number of parasites inhabiting his skin is enormous. Such a person leaves behind a rich "trail" - you can get infected only by touching the handle of the door, which he took, and the like.
