The main thing at the beginning of treatment is to identify the reason due to which the tick appeared on the eyelids, multiplied and thrives perfectly, unlike the eyelids themselves!

treatment of demodicosis in Moscow

Demodecosis of the eye (ophthalmodemodecosis) Is an infectious (invasive) eye disease caused by ticks of the genus Demodex (Demodex folliculorum or acne iron). These parasites are opportunistic pathogens, because they can dwell in the skin of every person, while not manifesting themselves in any way.

Unfortunately, many ophthalmologists try to treat only the eye mite (demodex) directly, without particularly delving into and not dealing with the reasons due to which it appears and takes root in people on the eyelids, causing severe demodectic blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids). Over the years, the eyelids become thickened, red, begin to itch and peel off - the eyelashes first become rare, and then completely fall out.

If you treat only a tick in this situation, after a very short time it multiplies again. Therefore, there is an opinion of inexperienced ophthalmologists that DEMODEX is not treated at all. Fortunately, this is not the case!

Demodex: in detail about parasites

Acariform parasites live up to 18 days in the larval stage, then another 5 days (adults). Females lay eggs and live for five more days. Away from food sources, ticks live several times less. From which the conclusion follows - you can become infected with demodicosis under the condition of direct contact with the carrier.

The disease is caused by the ciliary mite Demodex

Microscopic mites are long, elongated, eight legs are located closer to the "head".

Table. Types of ciliary mites.

NameDescription
Demodex folliculorumThey live in large groups. They feed on the contents of the cavities of the hair follicles, as well as epithelial cells. Inside the follicle, it builds cocoons - nests in which it lays eggs.
Demodex brevisIt lives in the meibomian glands, sebaceous glands and ducts of the sebaceous glands of the eyelids. It feeds on sebum (contents of glands and ducts) and glandular epithelial cells.

Both types of parasites are found in humans and animals. Demodex can "settle" not only on the eyelids, but also on the skin of the chin, in the folds of the nose and lips. On the auricles, the skin of the chest, abdomen and pubis, mites are very rare parasites.

Mites on the eyelashes of human eyes

The mites of the two species do not compete with each other. From the "nest" they crawl out to mate.

On a note! Research on ciliary mites began in 1842.

Useful video

In this video you will learn what demodicosis is and how to treat the disease:

In this way, to confirm this diagnosis and correct treatment, it is imperative to visit a doctor... You cannot let this disease take its course, because even with the help of drugs, you can get rid of this ailment within a few months.

And in order to avoid the disease, you must always observe personal hygiene, often change bedding, and it is best to always lead a healthy lifestyle and, if possible, not be in contact with patients.

The eyes are the most important sense organ, and their health is the key to good vision. But sometimes there is eye fatigue, irritation, itching and dryness. Demodex mites can cause these symptoms.

Demodectic mange: prerequisites for the emergence and development

Unfortunately, regular hygienic cleaning of the eyelids is impossible due to anatomical features, therefore, an ideal environment for the colonization and reproduction of ciliary mites has been created on the eyelids.

Parasites can be found in people from any climatic zone. However, it has been proven that the disease has a certain seasonality (the population is many times larger in summer), this is directly related to the biological characteristics of the parasites. At an air temperature of +30 to + 40 ° C, the activity of ticks reaches its apogee.

Reasons for the appearance of demodex

Studies show that demodicosis is more common in women than in men. In children, outbreaks of disease occur during puberty. Ciliated mites were not found in babies under one year old.

In adults, ticks are more likely to appear if:

  • weakened immunity;
  • a person is often exposed to stress;
  • the person is taking immunosuppressive drugs and corticosteroids;
  • there are diseases such as tonsillitis, ARVI, HIV and leukemia;
  • diagnosed with gastritis and / or gastric ulcer, 12 duodenal ulcer;
  • the patient is sick with cholecystitis, enteritis, diabetes mellitus;
  • there are diseases of the endocrine glands;
  • there is a focal focal infection in the chronic stage.

Important! The elderly and pregnant women are at risk.

Prevention

Unlike other parasites and bacteria in general, Demodex is rarely activated in the body, and often the defense system fights it off on its own.

But you can reduce the risk of tick damage by following these preventive recommendations:

  1. In the summer, you should avoiding swimming in unknown or polluted bodies of water.
  2. Even members of the same family must use separate towels and bedding... In public places and on trips, this should all the more be avoided.
  3. It is not recommended to contact too close with domestic and wild animals. This is explained by the fact that even if the animal itself is not sick, it can be a carrier of demodex, and this cannot be determined visually.

Important! After successful treatment, such rules should also be adhered to, since immunity to these ticks is not developed, and each time the likelihood of developing the disease remains the same.

After undergoing treatment re-testing is always requiredto completely exclude the possibility of a relapse of the disease in cases where a small number of parasites are still in the follicles.

Clinical picture and pathogenesis

In humans, ciliary mites cause not only cosmetic problems, but also often neurotic disorders. Some patients who have already been diagnosed and diagnosed with demodicosis have panic attacks due to the sensation that a tick is crawling under the skin. Due to the activity of folliculorum mites, eyelashes (madarosis) can completely fall out, and new ones grow incorrectly. Demodex almost always causes inflammation of the eyelid margin. Also, ciliary mites cause direct damage of the following nature:

  • cylindrical dandruff appears around the eyelashes;
  • dysfunction of the meibomian glands develops, their edema, leading to the development of cysts;
  • lipid deficiency of the tear fluid;

Ciliary mite symptoms

  • a granulomatous reaction is possible due to the fact that the tick and its skeleton are perceived by the glands as a foreign body;
  • if staphylococci and streptococci get in, blepharitis may develop;
  • there are inflammatory reactions (there are bacteria inside the ticks themselves, to which the body reacts with the production of bacterial antigens, and inflammation also occurs due to the presence of residues, tick waste and protein inside the parasites);
  • due to incessant inflammatory reactions, trichiasis and barley can develop, epithelial injuries are possible, turning into an ulcer of the cornea of the eye.

On a note! Ticks are classified as opportunistic. All inflammatory processes and other harm arise not because of the ticks themselves as such, but because of the extremely allergenic products of their vital activity.

Tick symptoms

Symptoms of the disease develop immediately after the parasite enters the area of the hair follicles.

Note! As the number of Demodexes increases, the following signs become more pronounced:

  • inflammation of the ciliary follicles;
  • profuse loss of eyelashes;
  • dermatological red eruptions on the eyelids;
  • swelling of the eyelids;
  • the formation of purulent secretions that stick together the eyelashes;
  • a feeling of the presence of sand in the eyes;
  • burning, itching and soreness in the eyes;
  • the formation of small abscesses on the edges of the eyelids.

In advanced cases on the patient's face acne may appear.

Sometimes a runny nose develops, which is not accompanied by other symptoms typical of the common cold.

Diagnostic methods

The very first test is done to detect cylindrical dandruff. In the brightest possible light of the lamp, the doctor examines the roots of the eyelashes.

Diagnostic features

For microscopic analysis, several eyelashes are plucked out of the patient (at least 4), after which the adult individuals, their larvae and eggs are counted. For research, fluorescein can be used.

Complications

In 40–75% of cases, demodex mites cause blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis, barley, keratitis. Loss of eyelashes is possible.

If barley often appears on the eye, there may be demodicosis of the eyelids

With demodicosis, the eyes itch, but it is very important not to comb or rub them with dirty hands, so that a bacterial infection does not join, and purulent eye damage does not occur, which, in turn, can lead to boils and abscesses.

Treatment

The disease is often chronic and relapses often occur. Treatment is always long and difficult. For the treatment to be successful, it is necessary to exclude the possibility of transmission of parasites from a sick person to a healthy person, as soon as possible to prevent mating of parasites.

Eye mite treatment

Important! The patient must have a personal towel and bedding. After washing, disinfection is carried out (thorough ironing on both sides) of all items of clothing, hats, linen, including bedding, towels. Disinfection of shaving utensils, glasses and their case is required. It is better to refuse wearing contact lenses for the period of treatment.

Mites are fatal:

  • carbolic acid;
  • ether;
  • creosol;
  • tar;
  • medical alcohol;
  • salicylic acid solution.

Tar birch

With demodicosis, visits to the solarium, sunbathing, going to the pool, sauna and hot baths are not shown. Peeling and manual face cleansing are prohibited. Do not overheat so as not to increase the activity of heat-loving mites.

Demodex can live for a very long time in cosmetics, vegetable oil, petroleum jelly. You cannot give your cosmetics to other people. If possible, you should use cosmetic products in the form of sprays and stop dyeing your eyelashes with mascara.

Demodecosis of the eyelids (eyes, eyelashes)

Important! You can not self-medicate, uncontrolled intake of antibiotics and hormonal drugs. All this can only aggravate the situation.

Diet

It is advisable to switch to a plant-based diet and refuse:

  • alcoholic drinks, sweets;
  • sweets and muffins;
  • fatty foods, sausages, lard;
  • pickles, marinades, conservation;
  • spicy foods, spices.

Spicy foods should be discarded

Massage

A simple eyelid massage helps speed up the healing process. To do this, clean fingertips are passed several times along the eyelids from top to bottom, to the eyelashes. It is not necessary to press forcefully on the skin of the eyelids. It is useful to do such a massage before applying the ointments and creams prescribed by the doctor.

Castor oil will help restore the growth of eyelashes after treating the disease. This inexpensive remedy simply needs to be applied to the eyelids twice a day with a clean cotton swab.

Demosecosis eye mite: causes of occurrence

There are diseases and factors that provoke the active growth and reproduction of eye mites. These include the presence of:

  • diabetes mellitus;
  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • hormonal surges, for example, during puberty;
  • frequent colds;
  • various infectious diseases;
  • hepatitis groups A, B and C.

The risk of exacerbation of demosecosis increases with:

  • carrying a child and in the postpartum period;
  • newborn and old age;
  • metabolic disorders;
  • previous treatment that greatly reduces immunity (surgery, radiation or chemotherapy);
  • long-term use of antibiotics or corticosteroids;
  • a sharp change in climate;
  • multiple cosmetic procedures;
  • exposure to the face of high temperature - burns, sunburn, sauna;
  • oily tapa skin with a tendency to acne;
  • stress and depression.

You can get an eye mite from:

  • birds;
  • pets;
  • feather fillers in pillows;
  • cosmetics and household items shared with an infected person;
  • a sick person through handshakes, kisses and other close contacts;
  • poorly processed bed linen used by the infected;
  • contaminated instruments that are used in various procedures involving the skin of the face or eyelids.

After the first exacerbation of the disease, if it is not eliminated, then it develops into a chronic form with constant relapses, the complexity of treatment in such cases increases.

Testimonials

She herself suffered from demodicosis of the eyelids for 2 years. I applied Blefarogel 2, smeared it with calendula tincture, etc. Did everything that is important for LOCAL treatment. And the results were not encouraging. At some point, it got so hot that I was ready to tear my eyes. I will say the following: until you stop eating all the food and in unmeasured quantities, thereby disabling the gastrointestinal tract, there will never be any positive results!

Tanya

At present, all the troubles are attributed to the unfortunate demodex, but more and more ophthalmologists come to the conclusion that this mite is a commensal. That is, it accompanies the disease, but is not its cause. Demodex surrounds us everywhere, it lives in dust, bedding and it can be found on the eyelashes of a person who does not experience any problems (no blepharitis).

vadimbondar

My husband went to see ophthalmologists. Found an eyelash mite. And to see he has been with him for a long time, because his eyes have long been red, watery, sour from time to time. First, they found blepharitis, then went for an analysis about Demodex. I took a course with Demalan, smeared my eyelids with calendula, the doctor prescribed drops, it became easier. I passed the analysis in a month, much better, but the tick did not disappear at all. Now I look again with aggravation eyes. All the time red, swollen (it looks like a hangover always, although he does not drink), bake as if there is sand. I drive to the doctors, says why, nothing helps. I understand that the problem is broader - maybe the liver is playing pranks, maybe the general tone of the body has weakened

Danna

for a long time I suffer with my eyes, a feeling of sand, as if a foreign body had got into, I treated a lot of things. did an analysis for demodex, found it. Prescribed such a treatment that it's just awful smear trichopolum and metrogil gel with calendula tincture and some other essential oil.

Or at

When a tick starts up in front of our eyes, it is demodectic blepharitis. Hand over cilia for analysis. They are treated with antibiotic drops and blepharogel No. 2 (No. 1 for simple blepharitis).

Here I am

The demodex mite does not always become the culprit of eye diseases, more often its presence is imperceptible. However, in a weakened organism, demodicosis can develop. In case of inflammation, irritation and other symptoms, you need to see a doctor who will prescribe the correct treatment. And to prevent the disease, you should strengthen your health and nerves, and eat right.

By 2020, the number of glaucoma patients in the world will reach 80 million Glaucoma. This disease has been known to medicine since ancient times. So, back in 400 BC.Hippocrates mentioned the term "glaucoma" in his writings. Translated from Greek, it means the color of sea water, bluish green.

Human skin is inhabited by numerous microflora, but among its representatives there are not only bacteria, but also larger representatives, for example, demodex mites. They can cause acne and demodicosis of the eyes; treatment in this case is long and painstaking, it should be carried out by a dermatocosmetologist. It is very important to suspect and identify the presence of demodex as the cause of inflammation of the eyelids and skin, it depends on the clinical experience of the specialist and the diagnostic capabilities of the medical institution. The I. Medvedev International Health Center has both: qualified dermatocosmetologists and the latest laboratory equipment make it possible to make a diagnosis within 24 hours and quickly begin effective treatment.
