In addition, the creation of flower beds from plastic bottles allows you to solve the problem of disposal without negative consequences for the environment.

Plastic bottles - universal use

What is definitely not to occupy a modern life, so it is a plastic container. Depending on its amount, you can create a variety of experiments:

  • Assembly of bottles into one structure to create a specific flower bed;
  • Cutting PET into strips, which taper when heated, which is characteristic of heat shrinkage;
  • Making a pin holes in the walls of transparent vessels for drip irrigation
  • Cutting plastic bottles into fragments for further assembly of greenhouses.

This article is devoted to how to make a flower bed from bottles with your own hands, so further we will focus on the most relevant techniques for decorating flower beds.

Glass container greenhouses using containers

Sometimes it is advisable to make a flower garden inside a container, which can serve as old car or tractor tires, low barrels, large pots or tanks. Most often, such a flower bed will be rounded, rarely oval or square. First of all, you need to dig a pre-selected container into the ground. If there is no bottom in it, then it will only create a frame and prevent the growth of both flowers and weeds outside the fence. In the event that there is a bottom, you need to take care of a certain number of through holes in it. Such a trick will help eliminate excess moisture, otherwise all the liquid will accumulate in the drainage stones, and then contribute to the rotting of the plant rhizomes.

To cover the built-in form with glass, you will need a cement-sand mortar in a ratio of 2: 1. The prepared mixture is spread in parts on the outer walls of the container along the container height. At the bottom, a generous amount of cement is applied so that the bottle can sink into it until the beginning of the wide part. Thus, you can lay out several tiers and create a tall flower bed. If desired, it is decorated with various natural materials. Lined with moss or cones, which are cut vertically for a tighter attachment, look great.

To independently set the shape of a flower garden with high sides, use metal sheets, having previously connected and laid out the desired configuration. You can frame such a blank using bottles like bricks. To do this, you need to lay the bottles on one side in such a way that the neck rests against the metal structure, and the bottom creates a beautiful smooth surface.

Plastic bottles - preparation

The more containers, the more room for creativity. True, there is one "BUT" - the bottles for the flowerbed must be the same in size and color, or at least they must make up a good percentage of the total number of containers.So blue, green, white containers can be alternated with each other to get an original contrast.

But such a plot is relevant only for large flower beds. If the latter are separate open flower beds, then it is better to limit yourself to one color.

Some gardeners manage to decorate plastic and glass bottles to get exclusive vessels. For registration, one of the following means is used:
  • Acrylic paint;
  • Shells;
  • Pebbles;
  • Colored foil, etc.

This technique is costly and time consuming, but if the flower bed is small and open, then why not use it?

When painting, it is recommended to pour the paint inward and shake it so that the finished result is pleasing to the eye despite the influences of the external environment.

And don't forget that colored PET bottles show a completely different color after staining. For example, filling a green container with blue paint produces a turquoise color.

Another important point - the brown container from kvass and beer looks gloomy and merges with the ground. These bottles are unlikely to highlight the flower bed well.

In addition, dark containers heat up well in the sun. This makes it suitable only for fencing narrow spring flower beds (although someone admits the use of brown PET all year round).

Multi-tiered flower bed

The flower bed does not have to be one-story. Add heights to her. For this, prepare the ground. Arrange the bottles on the ground floor, as in the photo, or according to your taste. Cover the figure with earth. Plant flowers on a part of the land, make the second floor in the remaining middle. Bottle guard first, then cover with earth. Plant the flowers again, remembering to leave room for the third floor. The flower bed is ready. Enjoy the work done.

Plastic bottles for a typical flower bed

The most traditional way of using PET bottles to create a flower bed is to fence off the planting zone. Looking at the photo of a flower bed made of bottles, the organization of the thematic fencing becomes obvious:

  • First, a place for the flowerbed is selected (it should be unshaded);
  • Next is the marking of the required area and border lines;
  • The next stage - a ditch 20 cm deep is being dug along the entire perimeter of the borders;
  • Then plastic bottles are sequentially and vertically buried into the ditch to create a solid row.

It is better to make the deepening with the spouts inward so that the bottoms protrude from the outside. First, such a fence is safe. Secondly, it is always easier to bury the container with the “edge” inward, and not vice versa. But then it is better to close the bottles with corks so that condensation from the soil does not form inside them.

The result of such penetration is known - paint wear. The plastic itself is not damaged or decomposed, which makes its products almost immortal.

It is also important to make a markup that you really like when you “populate” bottles. Therefore, before deepening the container into the ground, it is recommended to put it together in order to roughly estimate the future result.

Better yet, visualize it in combination with flora. And don't be limited to solid straight lines. A wavy flower bed always looks more original (although there are landscapes that just welcome "harmony").

Classic round flower bed

This is one of the most time consuming options. In addition to working with containers, you need cement, patience and accuracy.

  • prepare the material for work: wash and dry the bottles, dilute the cement with sand 2: 1, prepare the base for the flower garden: metal or rubber from a cut tire;
  • start the manufacturing process from the bottom. As much as you carefully assemble the support part, as a whole you will get a good job;
  • place the glass in a circle, brush with cement mortar, wait for the mortar to dry. Continue in the same spirit;
  • if you notice irregularities, just fill these places with moss, greenery or earth;
  • pour the prepared soil into the finished flower bed. Plant flowers.

Plastic bottles for the original flower bed

As part of the transformation of the garden landscape, flower fans want to show as much enthusiasm as possible. After all, flora alone is sometimes not enough for the desired contrast.

And the contrast, as you know, sets not only the abundance of colors, but also the shape, size and level of arrangement of the composition. With a hundred or two plastic bottles on hand, you can do:

  • A multi-level flower bed, protruding above the ground and representing several levels of vertically lined bottles;
  • A vertical flower bed that welcomes large 6-20 liter containers;
  • A hanging flower bed, which is assembled from a group of 1.5-2 liter bottles for hanging to the wall of the house or to a tree.

Also, hanging flower beds from plastic bottles can be performed by collecting containers of different diameters and colors and placing them together in one box.

The advantage of the corresponding method is obvious - the box hangs alone and does not require many chains for fastening.

In general, when growing flowers inside plastic containers in the latter, holes must be made to drain water and ventilate the root system. Otherwise, the soil inside the bottles will always be wet and the flora will quickly die.

Vertical

Vertical flower beds, suspended at a height, give the garden a fabulous atmosphere, and it is easy to make them. It is advisable to take green glass containers. They must be rinsed and filled with fertile soil.

If you fill only half of the container, the sun's rays will pass through the glass, and it will shimmer beautifully. Flowers are planted and watered through the neck.

Is there an alternative to plastic bottles

By properties, no. For example, glass containers tend to break, and generally weighs heavily. However, this does not mean that the corresponding containers cannot be used as walls for flower beds.

True, glass bottles are already better placed horizontally in a row like brickwork. Outwardly, their constructions look quite massive:
  • Ring beds at the level of 0.3-0.8 m from the ground surface;
  • Rectangular flower beds at a level of 0.5-1.0 m from the ground surface.

It is better to build a foundation for such structures, since the loads on the ground from above will be large. The container itself is recommended to be fixed with a rope and sealed with cement or polyurethane foam.

So that a flower bed of glass bottles does not crack or wear out, it is recommended to choose a durable container for it. In this regard, the best option is champagne bottles. But you can limit yourself to wine analogues.

When combining several bottles of the same color, a good contrast is obtained. It can be revived with a plot if you think over the location of the colored patterns before assembling the bottles. Notebook in a cage to help.

How to create a greenhouse with a complex configuration?

The unusual shape of the flower bed is always eye-catching; it can become a real decoration of any garden or yard.

But to create it, some skills will be required, otherwise you can get lost and unevenly distribute the material, thereby violating the proportions. Therefore, think over the desired configuration in advance and embody it on a piece of paper in a cage for easy drawing.

The entire structure must be divided into equal fragments using squares. The same should be done with the cultivated plot of land. In the place where the flower bed will be, they draw the territory into equal cells and transfer the intended shape. To facilitate the task, four pegs are driven in at the corners of the drawing and a thin rope is pulled between them.Then the squares are drawn and the future structure is depicted on them. After making sure that the pattern is correct, you can twist or dig in the bottles and plant the plants.

Plastic bottles for flower bed decoration

Thematic containers are easy to cut and bend, which only expands their use in gardening art. Crazy pens have already learned how to create from plastic bottles:

  • Blue lakes with white swans;
  • Multi-colored paths;
  • Fences for hedges;
  • Dwarven houses;
  • Bird feeders;
  • Green palms with brown legs;
  • Cheerful little trains;
  • Hanging lamps.

The latter prove that a festive mood is welcome even in summer, when daylight hours lasts longer than night.

But here it is necessary to take into account the property of the material to melt, which is why plastic bottles are suitable for using shades only for LED lamps.

But if the containers are glass, then candles can already be immersed in them. Here is another secret of how to decorate a flower bed, but already under the dome of the starry sky.

By the way, pendant lights can be hung individually or as one continuous garland.

Big tree made of plastic bottles

To buy a coniferous tree for the garden, you will have to fork out for several thousand rubles. After that, you have to wait and take care of the tree, which will take years.

Someone is impatient to see the desired result, so the designers came up with a simple solution for the target audience - a Christmas tree made of plastic bottles.

The manufacturing process is as follows:

  • Finding a place to install a pole 2.0-3.5 m long and 10-20 cm in diameter;
  • Deepening the pole by 0.5-1.0 meters into the ground;
  • Drilling holes to create different levels;
  • Cutting bars of different lengths into holes (the lower the level, the longer the bar should be);
  • Putting green bottles on rods.

If the pole and rods are strong enough, glass bottles are recommended. And before the appropriate procedure, it is better to weight the plastic analogs so that they do not play under the influence of the wind.

Green containers can be alternated with blue and white, depending on the desire to create a certain contrast. In any case, the thematic design is a delightful decoration of the garden and a testament to a genius idea.
