Wasp sting, what kind of help is needed to the victim

In September, it became known about several serious cases of wasp attacks on people. In Grodno, insects bit the pupils of a kindergarten, in Slutsk they attacked children in the courtyard of a residential building, in the Slutsk region a woman died from aspen bites. Entomologists (entomology is a section of zoology that studies insects) argue that no significant increase in the activity of stinging insects has been observed this year, but they remind of the importance of observing the rules of behavior around them. The BelTA correspondent found out how to act when attacked by bees, wasps and hornets, and in what cases one should seek medical help after being bitten.

If you were stung by a wasp?

The poison is contained in the sting and jaws of the insect. Acute pain, burning sensation is often a characteristic sensation during a bite. But not all of these insects can sting. Only female wasps have a sting. It has a smooth structure and therefore does not remain in the skin when bitten. Accordingly, the wasp has the ability to make many bites and sting a large number of times and not die. You can't say that about a bee. She stings only once, losing the sting.

Then she dies. The wasp is a hunter. It feeds on various insects. He also does not disdain carrion (he eats meat, fish, rotten food). As a result, in summer, garbage cans and garbage cans attract a large number of these insects. Accordingly, the wasp is a carrier of all kinds of bacteria. Wasp people sting defensively. The consequences of a bite and the body's reactions are varied. The most classic development for the affected area is redness and slight swelling. In more complex cases, allergic manifestations of varying degrees occur. In any case, it is necessary to take measures that reduce the development of poison in the body.

Harvest spoilage

In late summer, an overgrown wasp colony can seriously damage the harvest of fruits, berries and grapes. Ripe fruits, a decrease in flowers, and, accordingly, pollen and nectar, contribute to the fact that insects pounce on the crop with appetite. With their mandibles, they gnaw through entire passages in the pulp, killing the fruit and making it unsuitable for picking.

Winegrowers are especially affected, for whom harvesting becomes not only a moral, but also a physical problem. With the manual method of harvesting, collectors very often suffer from disturbed insect bites. Unlike bees, wasps can bite through the skin of grapes, then feasting on sweet juice. Fungi and bacteria form in damaged berries, causing widespread rotting.

Options for the consequences of wasp bites

People are individual and therefore everyone has their own reaction to wasp venom toxins. And therefore, reactions to a bite can be different.

Wasps and fear of them
An important role is played by:

  • the site of the wasp bite (skin, eye area, mouth, larynx);
  • individual susceptibility of the human body to poison.

A wasp sting is an unpleasant event that affects everyone differently. At the initial stage of the bite, this is a sharp pain, similar to the pain of getting a burn. After a short period of time, the pain is replaced by a small swelling with redness at the site of the bite. Symptoms disappear within a short period of time after the bite. People who are allergic to wasp venom toxins have different reactions.

Range of symptoms

  • unstable pulse (fast or slow);
  • severe swelling of the bite site (especially the area of the eyes, mouth, mouth, larynx). The tumor spreads to a large area of tissue, and in some cases to organs;
  • wheezing, breathing quickened, breathing hard;
  • dizziness;
  • loss of consciousness;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • the bite site itches (itching can spread beyond the wound);

The swelling that occurs after an insect bite can tell a lot about the development of toxins in the body. If the body successfully fights the poison, then the swollen part of the damaged surface takes up a small place around the bite and dissolves after 2-3 hours. If the edema becomes large over time, this is the first sign of an allergy to a wasp sting.

Wasps often sting children. The reasons are different. This is the curiosity of children for striped insects, the frequent use of sweets that children love. Babies are much more sensitive to a wasp bite than adults. Doctors recommend that parents go to medical institutions after a wasp sting.

Especially if there are allergic reactions to a wasp sting. Remember! Timely medical attention can prevent the consequences of an insect bite and the consequences will be minor. The question of the danger of a wasp bite for pregnant women remains very important. Medical sources say that a wasp sting does not have a negative effect on the fetus that a pregnant mother is carrying. The symptoms are the same as for any person. But the question remains about the increased sensitivity of the pregnant woman's body to wasp stings. In such cases, the main rule is to avoid contact with insects.

Carriers of pathogenic bacteria

Everyone knows the love of these insects for sweets, and a few individuals crawling over fruits in a vase on a table in a summer gazebo or on a veranda do not bother anyone. If adults are still able to sometimes control themselves and wash a pear or apple before eating, then children do not pay attention to such trifles.

Contacting with various pests with which wasps feed their larvae, as well as with many surfaces, and then, sitting on fruits or berries, they are able to transfer a sufficient number of pathogenic bacteria on their paws. This applies mainly to pathogenic microorganisms that can cause a person to become infected with intestinal parasites or dysentery.

The same goes for the plants they pollinate. By transferring pollen from a fireburn-infected tree to healthy ones, they can cause an epidemic that will be problematic to eliminate.

First aid

If you are bitten by a wasp, leave this place. When a wasp bites, it secretes a special enzyme that summons other relatives. It is enough to brush away the insect with your hand or any other means at hand. It is not advisable to put pressure on the insect. You can't do this. This will only enhance the release of the enzyme.

Wasp bite help

  1. The wound needs to be examined. If a sting remains, carefully remove it. The most common tool is tweezers. Any available tool can come to the rescue, for example, such as eyebrow tweezers. It is worth remembering one important feature - the instrument must be disinfected. Do not squeeze the sting out, do not scratch the wound. After these actions, the process of penetration of toxins can accelerate. Along the way, you can bring an infection.
  2. First aid
    The bite site must be treated with an antiseptic (hydrogen peroxide, alcohol). There are many bacteria on the sting of the wasp, which, together with the poison, enter the body. An antiseptic prevents infection from entering and developing. From improvised means, vodka, soap, plantain and parsley leaves will be a substitute for an antiseptic.Leaves must be thoroughly crushed until juices appear and applied to the affected area. This herbal compress should be done quite often - every 2-3 hours. In critical cases, if there are no funds, human urine will come to the rescue. It is necessary to smear the wound with a cotton swab dipped in urine.

  3. Painful sensations may continue after the bite itself. This is due to the fact that the toxin penetrates the skin and the body as a whole. This once again proves that not only the wasp sting itself is painful. To relieve pain, you should prepare an acetic acid compress and treat the wound. All kinds of pain-relieving pills are used. In the field, juice of sour berries, lemon, well-mashed sorrel leaves, dandelion stem juice help well. It is necessary to smear the wound every 2-3 hours.
  4. Apply a sterile bandage. If an arm or leg is bitten by a wasp, a tight bandage is applied to such a wound. It localizes the poison and prevents it from spreading in the body.
  5. Wound swelling can be removed with solutions of salt or soda (1 teaspoon of baking soda or salt diluted in 200 ml of water). Can be anointed with anti-allergic ointments. Apply ice, wet compress. Ice is a good pain reliever. Calendula tincture also helps to relieve swelling (it is enough to lubricate the wound once). For children, you can use Panthenol.
  6. Take an antiallergic drug. Drink plenty of fluids often. Any liquid saturated with sugar, Rehydron's solution is effective. All this contributes to the abundant urination and, as a result, the elimination of toxins from the body. As a result, the edema quickly resolves.

It is worth being careful when providing assistance with a wasp sting. A quick reaction to a bite, correctly defined symptoms and clear actions on them will help to quickly relieve pain and swelling and, as a result, lead to a quick recovery. Otherwise, timely medical assistance is provided.

What are they?

Only representatives of the group of so-called "paper wasps" sting us. These include more than 1000 different species living on the globe, including those common in Russia: the common wasp, the German wasp and the hornet. The first two are very similar to each other both in size and in black and yellow striped pattern, only the German wasp gravitates towards urban life, while the common one prefers the countryside.

The hornet is the largest and most dangerous wasp, its "bite" is the most painful, but, fortunately, hornets are much less common.

Help for people with increased allergic reactions

Allergy sufferers, while on vacation, should always be ready to meet insects and know the consequences that their bites will bring. Should be able to do basic methods of rendering assistance. If you are allergic to a wasp sting, be on the lookout. In the literal sense, every allergy sufferer should carry a first aid kit with a characteristic set of drugs.

The basis of such a first-aid kit should be antiallergic (antihistamines) drugs. People with asthma should have an inhaler with them. After all, its timely use excludes the occurrence of asthma attacks. Those suffering from heart disease and concomitant diseases should have drugs of the heart group with them. A tourniquet is also a must in the medicine cabinet. If a leg or arm is affected, a tourniquet will much more effectively act as a stopper for harmful toxins than a tight bandage. Allergy sufferers should clearly know the symptoms of an allergy. After a bite, you need to see a doctor urgently. After all, medical care is always of better quality than self-medication.

Dreamed of a man

A lot of wasps means that your boss will soon appreciate your work. Career growth awaits you. You might get more money. Usually an insect in a man's dream means a woman who is faithful to you. She is not cheating on you. You should devote more time to your wife, invite her to a restaurant.A stinging insect means something bad. Perhaps you will lose your job or your loved one will leave you.

Another insect dreams of a man, on whom an insidious woman has laid eyes. Especially if he's married. She will do everything to take you away from your family, to take you away from your wife. Perhaps she doesn't even love you, she just wants to harm your family. Perhaps this is one of his wife's friends. Try not to deal with women in the near future and ignore their requests and invitations, even if you are not married, because sleep warns against major problems.

When should I go to the hospital?

There are times when a wasp or swarm bites two or more times. In such cases, you need to urgently contact a medical institution. There is a generally accepted opinion that after three bites (for children, two or more bites), a toxic reaction of the whole body can begin. If a wasp has bitten on the face, behind the ear, swelling of the entire face occurs. A bite in the larynx, on the lip and on the tongue is very dangerous. The consequences are dire. The larynx swells, the tumor goes beyond the local character. This often leads to suffocation. And therefore, the reaction to this type of symptoms should be immediate. If the skin itches, itches, a rash has formed, these are also the first symptoms that you should pay attention to and contact the appropriate specialists.

MOMENT OF DANGER

In August, you are most likely to be stung. Why? I'm telling you.

Wasps always live only in families, these families are formed every year by the founding female. Usually in April-May nests are already being built with might and main. And at this time the wasps have no time for you - they would have to build a house! But in August-September they already have something to protect, so the wasps become very aggressive.

Wasps settle next to humans, as they always have something to profit from - the abundance of fruits in the markets in the city and in the farmsteads in the village makes their life much easier.
