It is necessary to take into account everything: what kind of garlic is suitable for orchids, how to make a solution, the proportions of ingredients. How to use garlic orchid solution as a top dressing
Bark for orchids - selection and preparation
The broth is used as a fertilizer that can be used to feed a flowering bush, but this must be done strictly following the dosage so as not to harm delicate orchids.
Top dressing with garlic solution during the active growth period is carried out twice a month. During the rest period, 1 feeding in 1.5 months is enough. The soil is thoroughly processed, and then it is loosened. If the water was stored in a cool place, it should be slightly warmed up to 25-27 ° C.
After watering and spraying, it is necessary to remove the water collected in the axils of the leaves.
Watering after transplant and during flowering
Watering orchids with garlic water immediately after transplanting is carried out to disinfect the soil in the soil. Flowers are vulnerable after planting in a new location. Moreover, there is a possibility that an infection could have gotten through with poor-quality planting material or through non-disinfected gardening tools. Only in this case, the garlic infusion will become a real salvation for indoor plants.
How to water an orchid with garlic water? There are no special rules here. The procedure is carried out in the usual way, when the liquid is poured into the soil, or by spraying the bush and soil from a spray bottle. After the procedure, it is necessary to remove the accumulated fluid from the leaf axils with a cotton swab.
If the procedure is carried out in the spring, then it must be done regularly twice a month before the orchids have time to release flowers. Subsequent watering during flowering is reduced to 1 time per month. When buds appear, the concentration of the infusion is reduced. To do this, it is diluted with clean water in a ratio of ½. No spraying is carried out during this period, and during watering, the broth is poured exactly onto the ground, without falling on the inflorescences.
Important! Watering with infusion should be done only on dry soil in a pot.
Watering rules
Processing by this method can be carried out in two ways:
- root (an orchid in a pot is immersed in a container with garlic infusion);
- non-root (the leaves and stems of the plant are sprayed with a solution).
When root impregnation, you need to collect water in a bucket and pour all the concentrate into it (see recipe number 2), then place the orchid in a double-walled pot there. The water in the bucket should cover 2/3 of the pot.The flower can be in solution from 40 minutes to 3 hours. After this time, the flowerpot is removed and placed in a basin so that excess liquid is glass. After half an hour, the orchid is returned to its usual place.
If foliar feeding is needed, garlic water (see recipe # 1) is placed in a spray bottle and the leaves and stems are treated with it. Leftover unused garlic solution can be poured over other household crops.
Use our advice, but remember: in order for a spoiled orchid to please with new delicate and fragrant petals, in addition to feeding, it needs a competent light and thermal regime.
Contraindications and errors
Garlic solution is a perishable product, so it cannot be stored for a long time, much less used for watering.
A detailed list of the most common mistakes in using garlic infusion and contraindications for use:
- in the hot summer period, the jar with the solution should not be stored in an ordinary room. Due to the high temperature, the liquid begins to ferment. Better to put the tincture in the refrigerator;
- methods of using garlic water must be alternated. After watering, you need to spray the bush or wipe the leaf plates. If you constantly spray the bush, there will be no effect from the remedy. The roots also need nourishment;
- Do not change the dosage of ingredients. Too concentrated solution should be diluted with water and not used in pure form;
- during flowering, the bush is only watered, it should not be sprayed with a solution of garlic. And irrigation water should be of low concentration;
- if the diseases of the bush are associated with damage to the leaf plates, it is worth postponing the spraying, it is better to first process the roots so that the flower will increase immunity.
