  • sweet and sour, juicy fruits.

The disadvantage of an apple tree is a small harvest. The shelf life of fruits is very short, which, however, is typical for summer representatives.

Crown width

The apple-tree variety Suislepskoe has a spherical crown, densely covered with leaves, in diameter it can be up to 3.5-4 meters.

Disease resistance

Malinka's disease resistance depends on weather conditions. During the rainy season, it can be affected by scab, fruit rot and powdery mildew. It is very important for gardeners not to miss the period of plant infection and to carry out processing on time.

Variety history

This variety has been known for a long time, it is of old, folk selection. As you know, trees of the Malinovka variety were found in places where Estonia is now located, in a place called Suslepa. The pomologist Leroy from France was the first to describe this variety. There are some unconfirmed theories that the Malinovka cultivar is of French origin. There are also versions that this is a kind of Persian apple tree. Other names for the Malinovka apple variety are Suislepskoe, Suislep, Suisleper.

Features of planting and care

Apple tree seedlings Robin should be straight, smooth bark, well developed root system. Such plants will take root well and will continue to develop well.

Landing rules

For planting, we choose a well-lit place with fertile soil, it should not be close to the roots of groundwater.

Landing dates

A seedling is planted in the spring, before bud break, and in the fall, after the leaves fall, but a month before frost.

Planting dates depend on the characteristics of the root system.

It is recommended to plant seedlings with an open root system in the spring, at the end of March - early April, and with a closed one - in the fall, at the end of September - early October.

Technology

A pit for planting an apple tree is prepared 3-4 weeks before planting:

  1. The distance between trees should be 4 meters, and between rows - 5 meters. It is undesirable for other trees to grow between the apple trees.
  2. A hole 80 cm deep and 100 cm in diameter is dug in the selected area, drainage is made from sand and gravel at the bottom. A mixture is prepared from the fertile soil and humus and poured onto the bottom, a stake is driven into the middle.
  3. The tree is lowered into a hole, the roots are straightened and sprinkled with the prepared mixture, lightly tamped and covered with earth, a hole is formed around the trunk for irrigation.
  4. When planting, it is important that the root collar remains 5-7 cm above the ground. Water the tree abundantly and mulch the trunk circle.

The seedling planting technology is shown in the video.

Choosing a place on the site

Breeders are sure that the apple tree grows well in loose soil, which easily allows water and air to pass through.

The optimal place for planting and further care of a Malinovka apple-tree seedling is:

  • area with a lot of sunlight, with fertile loose soil;
  • a place on a hill in order to avoid stagnation of water, which is detrimental to the plant. Also, cold air stagnates in the lowlands, which is detrimental to both the flower and the fruit, because it sits on a tree. Well, if the place is tilted, then cold air masses will pass through the bottom without affecting the trees;
  • the ground is farther from a fence or other obstruction that will obstruct air circulation.

Cultivation and agricultural technology

There are no special requirements for growing the Malinovka apple tree. Compliance with the usual activities will give a good result:

  • spring pruning and damage treatment;
  • preventive treatments for diseases and pests;
  • in the absence of rain, trees must be additionally watered;
  • spring and autumn feeding;
  • preparation for winter, depending on the region of growth.

These agronomic measures will help keep the apple tree healthy.

Pruning and shaping the crown

For good access of light and removal of diseased, dry and damaged branches, pruning is carried out in the spring. In autumn, branches damaged during fruiting are removed.

The tree is formed in the second year after planting, they do it in such a way that the central shoot is above the skeletal branches, which should grow far enough from each other.

Grafting trees

The breeders, by means of grafting, received a new apple variety Yuzhnoye from varieties Malinovka and Delicious. The robin is suitable for grafting and creating new varieties.

Of the known methods of vaccination, each gardener chooses for himself the method he likes. Which varieties to choose for scion and rootstock depends on what result the gardener wants to get in the end.

Such methods are very popular:

  • for the bark;
  • into cleavage;
  • in the butt;
  • budding.

One of the methods of vaccination can be seen in the photo.

Pollinating varieties

The Robinovka variety is self-fertile, and varieties with the same period of flowering and fruit ripening are suitable for pollination. Papirovka and Grushevka Moscow, according to many gardeners, are suitable as pollinators.

Ripening and fruiting

In different subspecies of the Robin apple tree, ripening and fruiting differ in terms of timing.

The beginning of fruiting

Usually Robin begins to bear fruit in 5-6 years of cultivation.

Apple trees on a dwarf rootstock begin to bear fruit early - by 3-4 years.

Flowering period

Apple trees bloom in the second half of May. The flowering period depends on the weather conditions.

Timing

The timing of fruit ripening depends on the region: in the southern regions - this is the end of July - early August, in the north-western - in early September.In different subspecies, maturation is slightly different in terms.

Ripening stage

When ripe, apples are greenish-yellow with bright red stripes and barely noticeable green subcutaneous dots. The pulp is snow-white, juicy, fragrant.

Fruit weight from 80 to 130 g.

Ripen on the branches unevenly, therefore fruit shedding is possible.

Storage and collection of fruits

The peel of apples is very delicate, so they can be damaged during picking and transportation.

The harvested fruits are stored for no more than 3 weeks.

Testimonials

Valeria

I tried apples with my grandmother in the village and fell in love - despite the fact that Robin is small in size, it tastes great. Delicate pulp literally melts in your mouth, very tasty! Juicy, fragrant, although not stored for long. I decided to plant it for myself, I'm waiting for the third year - until the tree bears fruit, but I hope that in a couple of years the result will be.

Grisha

I bought a plot with an apple tree on it. Only six months later, I accidentally found out what kind of variety it was, it turned out to be Malinovka. The tree is cool for the garden - it gives shade, and also delicious apples. I would not recommend planting specifically - the variety is old, there are modern ones that are much more convenient in every sense. This one is good only if you already have a tree - then yes, it is worth taking care of it.

Vova

The robin has been growing at my grandmother's for forty years, probably. I can't say that the tree itself is very good - the harvest is good, then average, it happens in different ways. Moreover, this does not particularly depend on the weather or care - the tree actually lives its own life. But the apples themselves are excellent - tasty, sweet, beautiful and appetizing.

Subspecies and variants

Apple tree Robin is of several subspecies. They differ in growth, appearance, terms of fruiting and ripening.

Decorative

Apple-tree Decorative robin is distinguished by its high growth - from 4 to 8 meters, the crown is round or wide-pyramidal. It is also grown in the form of a bush. The crown of the tree is covered with large dark green oval leaves. The flowers are large, white or pink, opening in May. The fruits of this apple tree are small, red when ripe, suitable for making juices and compotes. This variety is distinguished by its high winter hardiness.

Red-leaved

According to its characteristics, this apple tree is similar to the decorative one, but its peculiarity is the red color of the leaves. This hybrid is more resistant to diseases affecting the Robin, and unpretentious to growing conditions.

Columnar

The columnar apple tree has a main trunk, which is overgrown with shortened fruit twigs, and fruits appear on them. Such trees are planted in areas where there is little space for large trees. It is much easier to care for and harvest from such trees than from tall ones.
