Ammophos as fertilizer: application in the garden and in the garden, application rates

One of the most effective complex fertilizers is ammonium phosphate. It is used in all regions of the country as a supplement with minerals when growing root crops and grain crops. Fertilizer Ammophos is effective for tilled and pre-sowing application. It acts faster than other superphosphates because it is easily absorbed by plants. Fertilizer can be applied on a planned basis, with a view to future exposure, as well as urgently when there are obvious deficiencies in phosphorus.

What is "Ammophos"

Granular fertilizer "Ammophos" has a varied composition of mineral substances, and nitrogen and phosphorus have the highest content in it. These two micronutrients are essential components for the healthy growth of any plant species.

"Ammophos" is a well-known and popular drug among gardeners and agronomists not only in Russia, but also far beyond its borders. Today this fertilizer occupies a leading position in the economic industry for the production of not only phosphorus-containing, but also mineral fertilizers in general.

Outcome

Fertilizer ammophos is widely used in horticulture throughout the entire period of agricultural development. Phosphorus is a necessary trace element to ensure metabolic processes in plant tissues and the formation of the horse system. Ammophos can be used as a separate type of feeding, and in combination with organic matter. The effectiveness of agrochemicals differs in the speed of obtaining microelements by crops, therefore organic matter is several times inferior in its effectiveness.

Ammophos is applied during the autumn digging of the site, immediately after the snow melts and during the summer period. Also, ammophos can be used as an emergency feeding of crops when phosphorus starvation is detected. The percentage of nitrogen in this fertilizer is low, so it can be used for feeding until the onset of stable frosts. This differs ammophos from nitroammophos - they contain a large amount of nitrogen.

Fertilizer composition Ammophos

The manufacturer of Ammophos on the label clearly indicates the chemical composition of its product, it contains the following elements:

  1. Phosphorus. An indispensable trace element for the formation of a strong root system of plants, on which, first of all, the health and life processes of the ground part of the bush depend. Phosphorus plays an important role in biochemical reactions in plant cells.
  2. Nitrogen. Another important component of the drug. Found in smaller quantities. At the beginning of the growing season of plants, nitrogen preparations must be applied separately.
  3. Potassium. The percentage is almost the same as for nitrogen. It promotes the setting of buds and a rich harvest.
  4. Sulfur. Its task is to assimilate nitrogen and other nutrients from the soil.

The chemical formula of Ammophos is monoammonium and diammonium phosphate. Ammonia as nitrogen is specially added for more efficient absorption of phosphorus.

Attention! The manufacturer has a percentage of phosphorus and nitrogen content - 45-55% and 10-15%.

Ammophoska advantages

  • reduction of nitrates in finished agricultural products
  • copes well with its tasks both outdoors and indoors
  • this fertilizer is superior to others in that it is all-season, of course, this does not mean that it needs to be scattered in winter, since nitrogen will evaporate during the winter anyway, but in early spring, somewhere in late March or early April you can safely add, as it works even at low temperatures
  • it is convenient to use, it is much easier to use than any organic or mineral fertilizers, therefore it has found application both in industrial agricultural and in private households.

Forms of production and brands of Ammophos

In addition to the well-known complex granular fertilizer, the company produces other forms of its products:

  • phosphoric and sulfuric technical acids to stimulate growth;
  • goods with inorganic chemical composition;
  • nitrogen, phosphorus and potash granular fertilizers.

The product line of the manufacturer's products offers its customers products of various weight categories. They are sold in small plastic bags, large bags or containers.

Fertilizer is produced in soft containers and plastic bags

Important! Ammophos is a high quality agrochemical fertilizer that does not contain chlorine and other harmful substances.

How does Ammophos work on plants

Top dressing of cultivated plants with "Ammophos" affects them as follows:

  1. Strengthens the root system.
  2. Promotes an increase in proteins in cereals, healthy vegetable fats in seeds and nuts, fiber in vegetables.
  3. Increases immunity, which makes plants more resistant to diseases and low temperatures.
  4. Improves the quality and quantity of the crop.
  5. Increases the survival rate of young seedlings after planting or transplanting, acquire vitality.
  6. Crops become more resistant to lodging.

Pros and cons of using

Ammophos has many advantages:

  1. Contains a high concentration of nutrients.
  2. In the composition there is no excess ballast that increases the weight of the goods.
  3. Accurate size and shape of granules, as well as their pleasant appearance.
  4. Availability of product packages of various weight categories.
  5. Profitability: the ratio between price and quality.
  6. Good transportation and long-term storage.
  7. The product contains 1% moisture, has good flowability and is effective when diluted in water.

Fertilizer granules dissolve well in water, but poorly in soil

The most important and, perhaps, the only drawback of the drug is that in granular form, the product is poorly soluble in the ground. That is why it is mainly used in liquid form, previously dissolved in water.

Varieties

On sale types of ammophoska are presented under the brand "A" (granular form) and under the brand "B" (in the form of powder). At the same time, the composition of the complex in both brands is approximately the same: phosphorus is contained in the range of 44-52%, nitrogen 10-12%.

The division by brand is present due to the different method of application:

  1. Granular fertilizer (grade "A") is recommended to be used as a starting (local) option before planting crops. It is also called row.
  2. Powder fertilizer (grade "B") should be considered as the main top dressing for continuous planting. Powder fertilizer can be used for forage lands, fields with perennial grasses, green lawns of park and sports types.

When and where to apply Ammophos fertilizer

The appearance of the plant will indicate the need to use the drug. As a rule, it begins to fade, stops growing and blooming. "Ammophos" can be used for feeding bushes in open ground, greenhouses, in pots and boxes.

When can you add Ammophos

All cultivated plants require regular feeding, a lack of nutrients can have serious consequences for them. Top dressing with "Ammophos" is carried out during the entire growing season.

It is necessary to start using a phosphorus preparation when:

  • the growth of the bush stops, it begins to turn pale and wither;
  • the root system is weakened, because of which the bush begins to bend over to the ground;
  • leaf platinum becomes small and takes on a dull whitish tint;
  • foliage at the base of the root dries up and falls off;
  • in rare cases, the leaves of certain crops take on a slightly purple hue.

Dosage and application rate of Ammophos

All micronutrients must enter the soil in a balanced amount.

Dosage of "Ammophos" for various crops:

  • berry - 20 g per 1 sq. m .;
  • vegetable - 25 g per 1 sq. m .;
  • flowering dwarf shrubs - 20 g per 1 sq. m .;
  • root crops - 25 g per 1 sq. m .;
  • fruit trees - 100 g per 1 adult and 50 g per one young tree.

How to breed Ammophos

Each package contains the dosage according to which it is necessary to dilute the granular preparation in water.

Fertilizer, even over time, does not damp, does not stick together and does not lose flowability

Fertilizer dilution process is as follows:

  1. Boil 5 liters of water.
  2. Dilute half a kilo of Ammophos.
  3. Let stand for about 15 minutes until the fertilizer settles.
  4. Pour the liquid into another container, leaving a residue at the bottom.

The liquid that remains at the bottom of the bucket can be dissolved again, only you need to take half the water.

Important! The water should not be cold and from the tap. It is better to let it settle in a wide container and heat to room temperature.

How to use Ammophos depending on the type of culture

Depending on the type of culture, "Ammophos" is introduced in different dosages and forms:

  1. Potatoes. During planting of the culture, you need to pour 1 tablespoon of the drug into each well.
  2. Grapes. When the seedling is just planted in open ground, you need to add 30 g of "Ammophos" to the hole or feed it with a solution. Subsequent top dressing - 10 g of fertilizer per 1 sq. m. It is useful to spray adult grapes with a weak solution of "Ammophos", for this you need to dilute 150 g of granules in a 5-liter bucket of water.
  3. Onion. For him, you will need to add 30 g of granular preparation for each square. m. beds before planting. During the season, vegetables are fed with a nutrient solution of 6-10 g of fertilizer per square meter.
  4. Winter crops. The application rate of "Ammophos" per 1 hectare of the field is from 250 to 300 g of fertilizer.
  5. Cereals. For this category of plants, practically the same mass of "Ammophos" is used - from 100 to 250 g per 1 ha.
  6. Garden shrubs and semi-shrubs. Ammophos is especially effective when growing ornamental garden shrubs. During planting and at the first application of fertilizer for the season, it is necessary to apply 15 to 25 g of product to the soil for each bush. Subsequent regular feeding is carried out with a solution in the amount of 5 g of the drug per bucket of water.

How to apply ammophos depending on the type of soil

The dosage of "Ammophos" and the method of application are influenced by the quality and type of soil. Not always loose turf soil may initially contain the required amount of all minerals for healthy plant growth.

Dosage of the drug depending on the quality of the soil:

  1. Arid and dense - 1.5 times more drug is required; separately, together with Ammophos diluted in water, it is recommended to apply nitrogen fertilizer.
  2. Lightweight, breathable - it is enough to feed the soil in granular form in spring.
  3. Depleted - in the fall it is necessary to dig up the soil and add a granular preparation to it, in the spring they dig up the earth again and feed it in liquid form.
  4. Alkaline - in addition to feeding "Ammophos", in autumn and spring it is necessary to acidify the soil by introducing organic matter: humus, rotted manure or compost.

Analogs

Nitroammofoska
It often happens that novice gardeners do not see the difference between ammophoska and nitroammophoska. However, there is a difference and you need to know about it.

Ammofoska is a concentrated mineral granules with a gray tint. The fertilizer is universal and can be used on different types of soils.

It is suitable for all kinds of plants. It can be used dry or dissolved.

The main advantages of the mineral complex are hygroscopicity, non-toxicity, as well as the ability to store the product conveniently and for a long time.

Nitroammofosk is also a universal drug. However, the difference is primarily due to the composition, which includes many concentrates of different elements. The complex comes on sale in the form of granules with a pink tint.

Experts recommend using nitroammophoska in the process of planting crops. At the same time, although fertilizer is used on different soils, it best guarantees its effectiveness on chernozem soils. It is also recommended to apply the complex to the soil in the fall, which is not recommended for ammophoska.

> Nitroammophos is preferably used dry.

You can replace the ammophoska with superphosphate with nitrate. The scheme for preparing the composition looks like this: Superphosphate (2.5 kg) + Ammonium nitrate (0.35 kg) = Ammophoska (1 kg).

Ammophos compatibility with other fertilizers

The active ingredient of Ammophos is phosphorus, therefore, when mixing it with other drugs, you should pay attention to their composition.

Compatible with "Ammophos" are:

  • with high acidity of the soil, it can be mixed with wood ash;
  • urea and saltpeter;
  • potassium salt. It must be used immediately, cannot be stored for a long time;
  • organic matter: bird droppings, manure, humus, compost;
  • chalk and lime.

Agronomists often recommend mixing the drug with other fertilizers for greater efficiency.

Wear protective clothing and heavy gloves when feeding plants.

Security measures

The hazard class of Ammophos is fourth, therefore, when using this drug, you must strictly observe safety measures:

  1. Work must be carried out with a mask to protect the respiratory system from the ingress of vapors and chemical dust. Do not leave open areas on the body. It is recommended to wear respirators, protective suits and heavy rubber gloves.
  2. To avoid the ingress of dust from the granules during the opening of the packaging, experienced agronomists immediately lightly spray them on top with water. Then it becomes safer to pour the product into different containers.
  3. If dust gets on your skin, you must immediately wipe the area with a damp cloth or rinse it several times under clean water.
  4. If particles of granules get into the respiratory tract or eyes, you should carefully rinse everything with water and consult a doctor as soon as possible. You can fix the problem with eye drops and antiallergenic drugs.
